Um ... the bad picks highly outnumber the good ones. In general, we've had a couple of drafts that were made by one player. Then from about '06 through '08 we had pretty crappy drafts (putting it mildly).
Nicol has made JUST as many bad picks, if not more, than good picks. For every Dempsey and Parkhurst theres a Rob Valentino and a Wells Thompson.
love to see the Revs make a move here. I thought I heard that Portland made a move and now has another pick in the first round but the board has not updated it yet
5 of first 8 picks from Akron. Is Akron that good or is the NCAA final the only match any of the scouts bothered to watch?
Akron is the current powerhouse, and it just so happened that most of their team left to go pro this year.
Soares provides the CB cover that Gibbs vacated, and can pressure Barnes and Osei for playing time. Anyone know if he played a 3-5-2? I hope this means that our glaring offensive needs are being filled from outside the draft.

Many that have been solid starters. And many that have sucked. I challenge you to find another MLS team, given draft positioning, that has done better than the Revs in this span.
I do appreciate two things in your post ... one you changed your argument and two that you chose to pick and choose the years that had talent and didn't list the fail-years. This was your comment ... Bad picks is a higher percentage than good picks. Plain and simple. You're NOW changing that to read against other MLS teams.
Why didn't the Revs go after Kenny Cooper??? I would have traded 1st round pick and Stolica to Portland for him...and maybe some allocation money. NO? That would have been a good signing. I could see Cooper doing well here!
And BTW, if you're going to pick and choose years ... that's fine. Do note though that the first year you listed (2002) wasn't Nicol anyway. So yeah, they did well over that 4 year period drafting.
Listen, no one is a more ardent Nicol supporter than I, but this myth that he is some kind of draft guru has got to stop.
