YEESSSSSS!!!:D thats was amazing. both Korean bhoys scoring in extra time with their weaker foot! i think i creamed my pants when Cha scored, what a goal great celebration too. It was hilarious when Ki scored everyone was celebrating with me and my friends cause one of them brought a Korean flag to show support for Korea in the Asian cup.

we went to the pub we usually go to for a drink, everyone there knows me and went crazy when i walked in buying me drinks and stuff haha then they pinned the Korea flag on the wall. it was a great laugh.

seriously though Cha's goal was sick, he made it look easy on his weaker foot. Ki's was a great finish too.

That was great. Ki's goal was very good. Cha's was fantastic.

Remember guys when we were discussing Ki's quality and how some aspects of his game (for me it's his passing) are world class?

Well, there is a Liverpool thread (and it seems to be all non-Koreans, and written before this goal today) that seem to think that he is an almost exact younger replica of a certain Spanish international with a four-letter name. One says to offer Poulson for Ki.

Repped. Thank you for that. Feel good when Liverpool fans are comparing Ki Sung Yong to him. :D

I'm glad Lee Chung Yong and Ki Sung Yong are doing well in their clubs. I doubted both of them but they're proving me wrong (especially Ki). I want us to win the Asian Cup more than ever now.

Haha that's pretty funny because we had the same discussion just a little while ago about how Ki resembles Xabi way more than Gerrard.

Ki also said that he was very disappointed with Gerrard than he imagined when he saw Liverpool play Bolton live few months ago.

Ki is hilarious:D. hope we can keep him a few more seasons, it will be good for his progress to get european football and build for a few years. i now honestly think he'll leave for a one of the bigger clubs in europe, in a 2 or 3 seasons. he's a big sell, he has youth, talent and he's a good looking kid so will be a big draw for the Asian market. if any of the Big Clubs buy him they'll make a huge sum of money of the back of merchandising in Asia.

PJS joined PSV when he was 22. ManU @age 24. And we should note that his first season at PSV was a time for adjustment. That means that PJS really started coming into his own at about age 23-24.

A couple years is not a big difference if life, but if we look at the typical length of footballing careers (let's say 10 years), that is a fair amount of difference (in terms of footballing life). KSY is still considered a youth player, although many fans of Celtic seem to consider him their best player at the moment. It's too bad that he isn't able to play against the Rangers, as the consensus seems to be that Ki will be a huge loss.

The only thing that worries me is that PJS was playing for a better squad (altho arguably a smaller club than Celtic), and he had earned his military exemption by then... Then again, KSY has bulked up and improved many aspects of his game while at Celtic in the past 12 months. I can't wait to see KSY as he enters his prime. :D

I agree on the military exemption. That at best would be a major disruption of a career, and at worst it could derail it altogether. The politicians are too cowardly to give an exemption in cases like Ki's where he clearly is serving the country better by doing well on the international stage.

We've said it over and over again but we really have to fix the military solution problem with our footballers. It's getting out of hand. With every cycle, we're getting more and more talented players. It would be unfair to see their skills wasted while serving in the military. Is it too unreasonable to give exemption if they win the Asian Cup? I don't understand. There's no bigger achievement within the continent and it brings great respect to our country internationally.

What I don't get is how the Korean government and/or military put more weight on winning the Asian Games gold in soccer over the Asian Cup. If I remember correctly, when Korea reached the 2009 WBC final, the word over here was that even if they won WBC gold, the players wouldn't be exempt. Shouldn't tougher tournaments provide the same reward? Doesn't make sense to me. If they are worried about providing too many chances, do away with the Asian Games.

Someday, a Shin Soo-Choo or PJS caliber player will be in the prime of their career, have lived abroad since 18, have few if any friends back in Korea, and will reject military service and hopefully force some greater consideration of these rules. Just imagine if PJS hadn't won exemption...

The Korean government should just make a special clause to DELAY, not exempt, certain athletes who can "better serve the interests the nation" (or some other creepily-nationalistic reason like that) by not having to serve in the military in the prime of their careers.

Most footballers are retired by their 30s anyway, so it would only be a delay of about 5 years. In other words, you won't have old geezers in the military.

The only problem might be that other professional athletes would also want these deals.

totally agree. insistence upon serving the years during a players prime is just retarded.

Unlike pop stars, footballers don't need fans to pay their bills, and by the time you're 28, you've probably have had enough of the KNT like PJS.
