Congratulation to Juan Carlos Osorio "Once Caldas" is the 2010 Colombian Champion after defeating "Tolima" 3-1 at Manizales stadium in Colombia. After being fired by the Red Bulls, Osorio came back and won in a big way in Colombia. Right now, Osorio's rating is very high and his name's been mentioned for the Colombian National Team eventually. Chivas USA already expressed interest in Osorio. Congratatulation onces again to El Profesor Osorio.

Steve Sampson won some titles too. Doesn't change the fact that he failed miserably here.

So now being second place is "failing miserably"..... aaaah screw it, I just won't comment on that one.

We all know that the 08 cup run was the flukiest of things to happen. I hate to rehash all this old crap but it is the truth.

But despite all that congrats to JCO and to Once Caldas. His note taking skills must have improved tremendously in Colombia. I wonder what his notebook said during the season. I also wonder how many different lineups he used during the season.

Agreed. I loved every minute of it, but it was surreal for many reasons - most of all because we know deep down we were poor that year and lucky to even make the playoffs. We went to Chicago in the final game of the season with everything to play for (we thought we needed a win to make the playoffs) and they ********ing steamrolled us 5-2.

If it weren't for some lucky results we wouldn't even have been in the playoffs.

Also, his road record with us over those two years was TERRIBLE. 2 wins in 30 road games.

You know what this tells me?

He's only good because he coaches teams with money. He can spend his way to championships. I think there are alot of coaches like this.

I am correct in saying that Once Caldas is one of the richest teams in Colombia?

It doesn't seem like that is correct. Their roster isn't laden with foreign talent. In fact, most of their starters appear to have been on the team for several seasons. JCO did bring in Carlos "Red Card" Johnson.

I've done a google search on that and found that according to www.eltiempo.com.co which is one of the most important newspapers in Colombia "El Nacional of Medellin and Deportivo Cali" are the richest teams in Colombia. Once Calda is just a team that makes decent money, but they are not reach. Here is the link in Spanish:

Well, JCO was a gentleman, I wished him well when he left and I congratulate him now. Nice to see.

Regardless, he didn't work out here and (IMO of course) it was the correct decision to let him go. I also wouldn't want him back, even if we were in the market for a coach.

A team's success is dependent not only on the coach but on management which judges talent and acquires players. I don't know who he had doing that job in Colombia. Really doesn't make any difference: it seems to have worked out well for both sides.

People learn from failure as much, if not more, from success. His tenure with us didn't work out and I was pleased to see him go but he always struck me as a good guy, a gentleman. People live and learn. I'm pleased to see he found success elsewhere.

There aren't 10 rich teams in Colombia nowadays. 2 or 3 at most and that's it.

Once Caldas is struggling now and it seems they won't keep neither Osorio (likely to coach Chivas Usa) nor most of their stars
