Again, there are separate threads to discuss these moves.

You know those banner ads you see now? "I got a check for $3247 this week just for going on the internet! Ask me how."

Fiosfan is the guy behind those banner ads.

I tend to agree with Fiosfan's approach. This forum shouldn't consist solely of a handful of "blockbuster" threads that cover everything.

Having individual threads on important moves helps to stimulate specific discussion of those moves - and specific discussion is what I come here to read.* It's good to have the catch-all threads also, to organize the information, but we do need the smaller threads.

    * Someone might point out that very little discussion has occurred in this thread, but I'd argue that you're never gonna get much discussion when people are making everyone think the thread will soon be merged or deleted.

Agreed. Angel was clearly the most interesting player available in the draft, and the fact that the Galaxy picked him is worth talking about separately from Tyrone Marshall to the Rapids or Ryan Cochrane to the Revs.

The Galaxy scored the second most goals in the league this year, despite missing Donovan and Buddle for the World Cup, and Beckham for most of the year. If they are able to sign Angel, and also get Ronaldinho, they'll be the most dangerous team in the history of the league.

Wait, did they really trade a fourth-round pick in 2014? Talk about trading away the future.

AEG is the owner of the LA Galaxy and the majority owner of the Houston Dynamo.

Switch Beckham and Ronaldinho? Is Junihno defensive enough?

Even superclubs can't win everything every time.

Good point. I also think Conrad to Chivas is an interesting move.

Oh no! Didn't you hear? MLS Cup is meaningless - it's all about the supporters shield now. :D Besides, you've got Castillo now - he's nails in a playoff situation, I've heard, so as soon as you make the playoffs, I'm sure he'll do quite well for you.

No, in fact Donovan is probably the most defensive guy in that line up. Which is why it terrifies me.

JPA or LD10 takes the paycut?

    That's 4 DPs right there

JPA obviously. He's like 34 or 35? he's near the end of his career and I think this will be a chance to play with a MLS version of the Galax-ticos and win some hardware.

So, one theory is that he's insurance if Ronaldinho doesn't come over during the transfer window, and that the Galaxy won't sign him if they get Ronaldinho.

Another theory is that they'll try to sign both, and will try to get JPA to take a pay cut. My question here is whether or not you can sign someone for DP money ($335,000+ right?) and then use allocation money to turn that not into a DP contract.

And then of course another theory is that they could sign both as DPs and transfer Landon to the EPL.

yes but you forgot the possibility of the league expanding on the DP rule to further accommodate L.A. ;)

Yes, up to the max non-DP contract. Which is 475k I believe. See DeRo as an example
