Pretty darn solid performance tonight. Loved Toby's rocket; maybe he is a striker in disguise. Good ball movement and players were looking to move into the open spaces. Still a long ways to go but there is optimism once again.
Well we are through to the Europa League. Got to give credit to Madrid as they came out to play. Benzema on a hat trick and CR7 with the other goal. 4-0
This win was very important. Just a simple change can do alot. Martin Jol left and Frank de Boer is the new manager. You can sense it right away. I'm not saying that de Boer is the one, but this is a great start nontheless. Who knows what might happen more in this season.
It's been a long time ago that we sang ''wij geven voetballes''... And it does say something when this happens in San Siro.
57% possession (and good possession too); 24 shots, 11 on goal. Milan fielded a decent side and bringing on Zlatan (who did more than Ronaldiho and Robinho combined) showed they wanted to make it a match. Are others surprised at how quickly Ronaldinho has gone down hill?
Not really surprised since he was already partying on a daily basis at the end of his stay at Barça. However it does surprise me that he has turned into a bitch. Slapping players, tackling Stekelenburg twice and making one Zlatan-esque tackle. Pretty embarrassing stuff.
And here I was going on about how we should just get on with it. Nice to see some spark in the boys. Hope this keeps up!
Amsterdamse bluf > Haagse bluf. It was just one game, and Milan didn't look too bothered 2/3 of the game but what a difference it was. Looks like we got our attitude back on the field.
Nice analysis of last night's match by 11 tegen 11. I wonder how much playing time El Hamdaoui will be getting since Eriksen will be in the attacking midfield position and maybe Siem de Jong is the striker. Interesting choice for de Boer.
Despite of bad the opponent was, Ajax played with an idea Haven't seen Ajax doing that for a long, long, time.
I think that we have all been hoping to see Eriksen get the opportunity to run things for a while now. He was being wasted out on the wing where he is not nearly as comfortable. It was just difficult for him to displace de Jong in the midfield after his run of form last season. As far as de Jong goes I don't mind seeing him in the striker role. He is more inclined to play like the forward that we need in this system. He'll take his chances when he has them but will more often than not play with his back to goal and distribute to our more dangerous attackers. El Hamdaoui's problem is that he always wants to do too much on his own. He was too quick to take on multiple defenders and create something out of nothing rather than looking to bring his teammates into the action.
