I wonder what were the intentions of London's mayor when offering free hotel accommodation to FIFA and now rescinding it

prince, all nations are corrupt, but the choices by fifa are terrible

qatar is probably the most stupid host imaginable, a dumbass islamic state with stupid laws (this is the 21st century not medievil europe) and the most obvious backhander fifa could've taken

useless organisation....i hope people boycott those world cups and show fifa how dumb they are

    imagine the travel costs?

Blackpool lacks undersoil heating, making their pitch unplayable.

Im glad it was called off, Utd could have given out a beat down to Blackpool after their 4-0 loss to West Ham so now they will have a very tricky game in the middle of a fixture pile up somewhere down the line.

It could turn out a blessing so long as we beat them on Monday next of course.

our most important game against manyoo in some time.
a beat down of partizan would do us well to keep the momentum rolling.

coming from someone who watches Portugal regularly and when I say regularly I mean every game that means something, I can assure you that Ronaldo hasn't been 'Ronaldo' for his country on a consistent basis since the 2004 euros.

Why do I watch Portugal so much? I'm portuguese and it just sort of comes with the teritory (please don't hold this against me). I'm really a nice guy, trust me. ;)

as for which squad has more talent? It's not as cut and dry and you made it seem. I think there's certainly room for debate. Portugal has a lot of top level talent.

Ronaldo maintained a fairly solid goalscoring rate for Portugal of about 2 in 5 through 2007. It has been in the last tournament cycle, when Portugal moved to a pretty defensive model, that his goalscoring completely fell off.

In 04, 06, and 07, Ronaldo scored at least 5 goals for his country. Messi has only reached that number in one year, and in no other year more than 3 goals. Unlike Ronaldo, he has never enjoyed any extended spell of even moderate success for his country.

I would not claim that either has set the international world on fire, but I think they are different cases and reveal different things about the two players.

Portugal have been a defensive, and cynical, side since Rui Costa retired

They were very defensive during the 2006 world cup even with Deco pulling strings

I thought Deco played very well at Euro 2008, but you can't cough up 3 goals at the back....

Cynical, I agree, but I think they are more tactically defensive now.

Compare that in 2010 qualifying they scored 17 goals in 10 matches. In 2006 qualifying they scored 35 in 12.

Their 2006 qualification group was a joke, compared to the 2010 group

    it's Pauleta

and yes, he is portugal's top goalscorer, but got there doing it against the estonias of the world, not in the big games when it really mattered.

I might even be able to score one against San Marino.

Kevin Gameiro scored a double in what turned out to be a 6-3 shootout in Lille - Lorient yesterday. Coquelin set Gameiro up on the 1st goal of the game. Moussa Sow scored a hattrick and is leading ligue 1 with 13 goals right now. Couldn't fine full highlights but here is some of it

"Newcastle United have sensationally sacked manager Chris Hughton just over a year after he was appointed the club's boss on a permanent basis."

Not a big surprise, they never seemed to want him anyway.

really stupid move, but there have been tensions there for a while, though mostly caused by the board themselves.

You generally don't make this move unless you have somebody else lined up, but I have no idea who's out there. Think it would have been better to wait until the end of the season when more managers will be available.
