    probably Lukaku

his idol is Drogba, and he took a stadium tour of Stamford Bridge over the summer on his own

Hazard is nice, but I don't think we need a direct replacement for Hazard. Give that role to Nasri or Wilshere.

I'd much rather get a Schweinsteiger.

If we're selling Fabregas, get both (or Jack Rodwell). The idea is to have two players for every position, except for central striker, where we want three.

    So today we have:

    Up top:
    Chamakh, RVP, Bendtner.

    On the wings:
    Nasri, Rosicky, Arshavin, Walcott

Attacking mid: Fabregas (and when he comes back, Ramsey). Nasri, Rosicky, and Arshavin can run this position in a pinch.

Holder: Wilshere, Diaby, Denilson - who plays depends on the opposition

Destroyer: Song. We need another, better destroyer. Don't think Wenger will buy one though: we're more likely to see Eastmond and Frimpong (when he comes back)

When Fabregas leaves, the most likely solution will be to move Nasri into his role, and have him and Ramsey fill it - Ramsey's injury made this situation so much more complex. Aside: Does anyone think one of the major reasons we didn't sell Fabregas last summer was Ramsey's injury? Just a thought.

So what we then have with the wide players is:

Arshavin (turning 30 soon), Rosicky (already 30), and Walcott.

We have to get one more player in this position anyway - given Arshavin's and Rosicky's age I think we need three.

So if Fabregas leaves for the Catalan Cnuts (TM) next summer, we really need two or three players who can play wide in a 4-3-3 and have the ability to cut in (since Wenger's such a huge believer in this). This is on top of a new DM.

Good points. You're right in that if Fabregas leaves we don't need a direct replacement, per se, but would need some type of replacement.

I still think a steel/enforcer player would be the best addition we could make right now.

    Song (or someone else)
    Wilshere-Cesc
    Nasri-Van Persie-Hazard

    Surely this will excite you?

Yep, but if we get Hazard I believe it will be because we sell Cesc and move Nasri to the middle

I can envision something like this in the future

    ----------------------------Van Perise
    Theo/Wellington/Nasri--------------------Hazard
    --------------------------Nasri/Wilshere

    ----------Wilshere/Ramsey
    ----------------------------------Song

Bang on. Song is an alright holding mid, but, as you put it, he doesn't have that 'steel'. We need someone like Vince Grella, except better.

i wouldn't have a huge problem with this. it might be a good opportunity. you can't ignore the fact rosicky is 30 and a squad player.
nice to have but not essential to keep, though i doubt he would bring much money in if arsene did decide to let him go. another body coming in would be needed though.

Ramsey would take Rosicky's minutes even if Rosicky stays on the team.

I agree. In five years, Rosicky has had exactly 25 games where he went 90 min. Heard on TV. Seems fewer. Quality player but we need to look ahead.

You know this comes from somebody who is nowhere near a Team USA homer. Far from it. I would have no problem seeing Bradley at Arsenal.

Not related to signing him, really, but he scored a (pretty lucky) goal on a free kick today from what must have been 40+ yards and at an acute angle. One of those where it goes in for a header, misses everybody and the keeper, and goes in. I didn't watch it, but I noticed he was taking other set pieces in the highlights.

They will almost surely be relegated, so I am guessing he will be available for a cut-rate price at the end of the season.

You guys consider Michael Bradley to be a "steel" player?

No, but we don't need a "steel" player. We need a disciplined attack breaker upper.

I honestly think Bradley could do the job -- he's as good as Denilson defensively and better offensively Worth a gamble at a cut fee. Anyone know if he speaks French?

I saw people comparing Spector's game in the Carling Cup to Gareth Bale's breakout season. I say we jump on the Jon Spector bandwagon.
