I thought I had heard that too at first, but it was Johan Cruyffs assistant back in the 90s when they also won 5-0 and the assistant apparently held his hand showing five just like Pique did today.

They thought Xavi was Toni Kroos because of his playing style...silly mistake by the commentators.

Yeah, at first they thought it was Schweini...but they could tell it wasn't because of how he bent his elbows when he ran...

LOL, as far as I can recall that event never took place so... The only thing I remember aobut hearing Toni Kroos which got my attention, they immediately referenced it to Johann Cruyff and then they were talking about the famous 5-0 in Cruyffs era as a manager.

^^ well özil only played 45 minutes so...

I know Im talking right now with mondays newspaper at hand, but Barcelonas victory isnt all that surprising. Perhaps, the amount of goals may come across shocking, but the victory certainly not. Madrids defense has been vulnerable all season long, only not exploited by rather weaker teams in La Liga and Champions League. Standing in line against Barcelona playing against players like Messi and Xavi is borderline ridicoulous to say the least. There was simply no way in which Xabi or Sami could have done anything.

All in all, I think Madrid will grow from this and they surely havent shown the last of them.

You cant help but feel that if Barca had bought Villa last year instead of Ibra, they would be looking for their third straight Champions League victory this season...

    Don't you know?
Prem teams can never lose to European competition, they can only lose to themselves.

Boy that is going to hurt for some time. I hate madrid but by the end I kinda felt sorry for them. I got over that pretty quickly but i just never thought that I would ever feel sorry for them fockers.

If we want to compete then we should buy more than just a great CB, LB GK.
    we need a lot more

You say it kidding but it's true. He didn't shine as much due to the other 2 companions being absolutely shit the entire match but he still played well that match imo.

Barcelona like before, I'd want to avoid them in the quarter-final. Madrid being hyped up all season and brought down to earth quickly, you would have thought the second Mourinho joined them, you might as well give them the 3 titles.

Khedira and Ozil have A LOT of work to do to improve. Germany can still beat every other Euro team with them at this level bar Spain, those 2 are far below expectations atm.

Yup, can't really conclude anything from this match about any of Madrid's players. They were simply outclassed, I don't think any tactical change was going to make a difference today. It reminded me very much of the semi final this summer.
