I think we'll see that personnel, but the shape will probably be really funky.

This being the home game, I think Pep will go with the gold standard A+ lineup. He'll then save something quirky for the game in the Bernabeu, like last year when Alves started at RWF.

Like inswinger said, Mourinho can't have it both ways and I think Madrid will do what they've done in this match the last two years in the Camp Nou: try to start a break and get it to down the left wing (Ronaldo last year, Drenthe the year before).

If he does try to get the midfield to push forward a lot they are pretty dangerous but any unsuccessful attack will lead to an attack for us. Their midfield is pretty damn good this year but I still favor the Spain NT midfield to create.

One thing I think is for sure is that if they score first or, heaven forbid, go up two they will absolutely defend in numbers form that point on. They did it to AC Milan.

The boys need to really pressure every Madrid possession early and throughout. I know they will anyway, but it's very important to keep it up even if it's getting late and it's still scoreless.

Which I don't think it will be. LPB are fully loaded this year but it still won't be enough. Not with so many Euro Cup champs, World Cup champs, and a little guy named Messi leading the way. Visca el Barça!!! WAR BLAUGRANA!!!

Excuse my ignorance but why is this game being played on a MONDAY? I can't recall this game ever being played on a Monday before.

Officially, because there are Catalan elections this weekend. I think the RFEF's desire to get people used to watching games televised on Monday, which they haven't been that successful with so far, is part of it as well.

I just hate the fact that above Barca and Real (two of the most prestigious names in the game), above Messi, Ronaldo, Xavi, Iniesta, Casillas etc, this game has become about a classless ex-translator. it's all anyone over here is talking about, Jose this, Mourinho that....I really detest this guy

One blogger made an interesting speculation that the league allowed for a Monday kickoff to place the all focus on the atmosphere and surroundings of arguably Europe's biggest derby in order to help Spain/Portugal's bid for the 2018 World Cup. I don't buy the argument, but it is an interesting suggestion nonetheless.

I heard that they put the match on Monday because they wanted some people to actually look forward to a Monday. Interesting theories they all are.

I dont know, but somehow I dont think we'll play Masch and Busquets at the beginning. It's not really us playing our game at home. I dunno, but I think Pedro starts up front with Villa and Messi. I think Pedro has played well all season, its just that he is now starting to score goals. His energy and work ethic has been there all season.

The key is Iniesta and Xavi's ability to control the game and dominate their midfield. If Xavi and Iniesta have their way, then we should gain quite a bit of confidence right away. Like when we beat Inter 2-0 at home (on MD5) in the Champions League.

You don't have to be a tactical genius to know that RM will be happy to concede posession to Barca and then hope to hit them on the counter, in Ronaldo, Higuain, Di Maria they have plenty of pace upfront. In particular they will look to expose the space left by Alves when he goes on the attack.

We have looked vulnerable at the back all season, so I think Masch and Busquets are going to be very important tonight.

I'm going for 3-1 to Barca, two for Messi.:D

More or less believable rumours all around that Higuain is not fit to play tonight. Maybe it's just untrue or maybe not. I'd rather have him fit as he is a worthy opponent, but whatever. They have other good attackers anyway.

Pumped up. Time to start putting some blues to RMadrid's season. First we win them, then the second from group qualified Arsenal throws them out the CL.

Thanks, mate. Very odd such a game is on a Monday, but that would explain it.

Higuain is out for them. Interesting to see if Mou changes anything because of that or just makes the straight change and puts in Benzema.

Once Mou has a winning eleven he tends to stick with it, so I would imagine Benzema will come in for Higuain and the rest of the team will be pretty much what it has been for most of the season.

I will believe the Higuain story when I see the official starting lineup.

Wasn't there a time when he was at Chelsea that he listed one lineup, then when he found out Rijkaard's lineup all of a sudden he had a player deemed unfit and he made a switch? I think it was against Barcelona. It was against a big opponent in an important match, anyway. Maybe a Chelsea lurker can fill in the details. :D

Knowing Mou, right before the kickoff, Benzema runs out of the pitch and Higuain runs in.:D

It's pretty cold today. It was 3°C earlier, and expected to be 5-7°C during the match. Do you guys think this benefits any team over the other?

She sounds like a keeper. :)

ESPN Deportes showing jornada 12 from last year. Alves set up Ibra, then saves a shot on the other end. And Abidal barely misses a goal of his own! Man these two are awesome. I hope we win. :D
