A crowd of 1,600 (usually there are about 100 fans at reserve games) saw an experienced Blackpool side well and truly beat Rochdale 8-1. The first player to score in front of the new stand was Ishmel Demontagnac. The reserves are in action again this evening, taking on Morecambe away at Christie Park. Kick-off is 7:00pm.
Another benfitr of promotion is that the Reserves will in 2010-11 compete in the Barclays Premier Reserve League.

Participating clubs will be split into three regionalised groups: Southern Group Arsenal Aston Villa Chelsea West Bromwich Albion West Ham United Wolverhampton Wanderers Northern Group A Horwich Manchester City Manchester United Newcastle United Wigan Athletic Northern Group B Blackburn Rovers Blackpool Everton Liverpool Sunderland The format will result in the sides in the Southern Group playing a total of 20 matches and those in the two Northern groups will play 19 matches. The reserves are in action this evening at Bloomfield Road against West Brom. The Pool starting line-up: Mark Halstead Danny Coid Ashley Eastham Ron Edwards David Carney Stephen Husband Chris Basham Ludovic Sylvestre Matt Phillips Ishmel Demontagnac Gary Taylor-Fletcher Even last season in the Championship, never mind back in League One, that would have been a decent first team never mind a reserve side. It certainly shows how far we have come in four years since 2006. Of course we still do not have the strength in depth that other PL clubs have - in the first reserve game of the season Pool got hammered by Aston Villa 6-0, but for that game they included a number of youngstes from the youth team.
Final score was 1-1 with new signing Matt Phillips scoring Blackpool's goal in front of a crowd of 275.
The Reserves are in action tonight when they travel to Barnet to take on Arsenal at Underhill stadium. Kick-off is 7:00pm. The match will see new Ghanian international keeper Richard Kingson play his first Pool game. He was an unused substitute for the first team game on Saturday and got a great reception from the home support when he warmed up both during the first half and at half time. The team, being managed by Stephen McPhee, will include two other internationals, with Israeli Dekel Keinan and Australian David Carney set to play. Matt Phillips, who had a remarkable ten minute cameo debut on Saturday, scoring on his first team debut, will also feature. Others expected to play include Danny Coid, Rob Edwards, Stephen Husband, Jason Euell and Ishmel Demontagnac.
The reserves lost 3-0, although it was only when new keeper Richard Kingson was replaced by young Mark Halstead late on that Arsenal scored their goals. Blackpool played well and were unlucky to lose, although the home side did dominate late on. Former Pool loanee Jay Emmanuel-Thomas scored for the Gunners. A good work out for new boy Kingson though who will surely be pushing Matt Gilks for a place in the first team starting line-up at Liverpool at the weekend.
The reserves are in action this evening as they head to Ewan Fields, the home of non-league side Hyde United to take on Manchester City. Keith Southern, Brett Ormerod and Marlon Harewood are set to play. Kick-off is 7:00pm with £4 admission for adults and £2 for concessions.
Man City 2-1 Blackpool Blackpool took the lead through Brett Ormerod, but by half-time it was the home side who were in the lead, which they kept up to the final whistle. Pool line-up: Mark Halstead Matt Phillips Ash Eastham Rob Edwards Danny Coid Keith Southern (Stephen Husband 74) Chris Basham Ludovic Sylvestre Jason Euell (Tom Barkhuizen 83) Brett Ormerod (Ishmel Demontagnac 65) Marlon Harewood Subs not used: Elliot Tarney Biko Youanda
The reserves take on Blackburn Rovers tonight at Bloomfield Road, kick-off 7:00pm. A strong line-up has been named. Dekel Keinan, Ron Edwards, David Carney, Keith Southern, Chris Basham, Jason Euell and Brett Ormerod are all expected to play. Ian Holloway is also expected to give 45 minutes each to keepers Paul Rachubka and Mark Halstead, while young striker Louis Almond continues his comeback from a shoulder injury. In form youth team striker Tom Barkhuizen is expected to be on the subs bench alongside first year professional Ashley Eastham and fellow youth team scholars Kingsley Francis-Reynolds, Liam Tomsett.
BLACKPOOL: Mark Halstead, Alex Baptiste, Rob Edwards, David Carney, Keith Southern, Chris Basham, Stephen Husband, Brett Ormerod, Jason Euell, Louis Almond Subs: Paul Rachubka, Tom Barkhuizen, Liam Tomsett, Kingsley Francis-Reynolds, Ashley Eastham ROVERS: Dilo, Ramm, Henley, A. O'Connor, Pearson, Ajagbe, Evans, Knowles, Hitchcock, Maclaren, Osawe Subs: Edwards, Fernandez, Wylie, Vastic, O'Sullivan
The reserves won 3-0 and it was bloody cold at Bloomfield Road. Just got home and still can't feel my feet. Brett Ormerod scored two penalties and young youth team player Liam Tomsett added a third goal before half-time as Blackpool won. Not many players stood out really, but I must admit that IMO Australian left-back David Carney looked like he should be competing for a place in the first-team. Crowd of probably about 300. Oh and I might warm up again some time tonight hopefully.
