Could Heath Pearce come to NYRB?

Found this interesting bit on Ives site:

One player who couldn't have been too happy is Heath Pearce, who was adamant in the days leading up to the final that he was healthy enough to play. When Dallas officials chose not to select him to be in uniform for the match, Pearce responded with a Twitter message that revealed some clear frustration, a message he deleted soon after posting.

...If Pearce, who was arguably the best fullback in MLS this season, was healthy enough to play on Sunday then Hyndman and the Dallas training staff deserve to face heat over a terrible decision.

Does this mean Heath Pearce's days are numbered in Dallas? You have to wonder whether Hyndman will consider offers for Pearce considering the depth the team has at fullback. There would be a line a dozen teams long ready to scoop up the services of a player who can play right back and left back as well or better than anybody in MLS.

    http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2010/11/a-look-back-at-the-2010-mls-cup-weekend.html#more

I think he'd be a GREAT addition to the team. His price is hefty for a fullback (about $200,000). How much were we on the hook for Angel? Perhaps instead of investing in another high priced DP we should get some medium priced talent in this winter.

Anybody have any thoughts or inside information?

That mustache makes him look too much like a 1970's porn star to make me take him seriously.:p

This waiver Draft is only for players that don't qualify for the Re-Entry Draft and Pearce Qualify is a 25/4 player.....

After that we have to see if his team give him or not a Bona Fide Offer to make him choose to quit the Re-Entry Draft at all or not.... And after all that you will have to spend at least 250K on him for his first year.....

All worth it imo. Good left back. Seems to be a pretty good character guy too.

That stache is worth it alone.

I would definitely take him, he was great this year and would provide the movement forward that Backe likes from a fullback.

I can't believe the opinions of Miller here are so low. He is more than serviceable. And I don't Soler/Backe giving up on him. Remember he was the first player they signed after taking over.

I do think Pearce is a better player but his salary seems too high and that is not really a position of need for us.

I will take him in a 1,2,3 the problem is that the circumstances are negatives at our side...

Because in case Dallas trade him will be for something very, very big, say Ream or Tchani and I don't think we are willing to do that.....

miller is fine at LB with a dirt cheap borman backing him up. We're comming off one of the best defensive years we've ever had.

    +1 Agreed

Unless Patrice Evra, Phillip Lahm, or Gareth Bale come out and say I want to play for the Red Bulls, Miller is staying. He is an average MLS left back who was solid for us most of the season. We would have to give upsomething for Pierce who is not an upgrade so why even bother.

What I saw all year around between Miller and Borman was that:

1.-If Miller was playing and because he make 1/2 dozen errors every game, every body was asking they self, why the fu*ck Backe don't play Borman....

    2.-If Borman was playing ditto.

So we have a good defense line?, ....HELL NO, we need some body better....

I will take Borman as a Sub... and send Miller packing and look for some body else........Pearfce will do it....

I agree on that, but we have to agree that Pearce is better than the ones we have right now....But sure isn't our solution either....

I agree, Pearce is definitely better. He can bring the ball up better and has a better cross than Miller. He would be a clear upgrade over Miller.

tbh, i cud see marquez being moved to CB next year next to Ream and then NY going after a true holding mid...

Albright and Miller were pretty decent tbf

    Rico would be an option...

    GK-Condoul
    RB-Albright, CB-Marquez, CB-Ream, LB-Miller
    RM-Richards, CDM-Rico, CAM-Lindpere, LM-Ballouchy
    ST-Henry, ST-Agudelo

that would be my line up...

I thought he said it was a possibility? I prefer RM to stay in the MF and spray balls around to guys like Richards/Agudelo.

My opinion would change if we pick up a pure #10.
