It all depends upon the extent of the injuries. If typical ACL injuries and repairs, no problem. I've seen Charles play three times now, and he is definitely the best youth player I've ever seen including foreigners. Lletget is also special, but Charles is one of a kind. If his knees are blown out, it's a major loss to U.S. Soccer.
Because there is no Renken on the official site of Hoffenheim. How ? The player isn't in Germany at all.
Where in the world is Charles Renken?! I can't find anything about him on the Hoffenheim or Vancouver Whitecaps site. Is he still recovering from his second knee surgery? And if so, where? Does anybody know when he is scheduled to return to competition? I am clueless, and it is driving me batty.
Rongen made a comment that there is a concern for his physical health in general and not just playing soccer. I think his parents shut him down to concentrate on health, life, and happiness and he's at home not traveling or training with anyone. As BS fans we know he hasn't played or trained with any professional, national, MLS, DA, team for 2 yrs. I'm afraid this is a C.Davies scenario in that we have to be patient for a 14 yr old who had 3-4 major injuries and a few chronic injuries. Hope he heals and works his way onto a pitch. I agree he was (is) a special player.
Great to hear. That's what I was thinking reading Rongen's interview. Hard to imagine him having any chance to play on U-20 in the summer if he wasn't training by now. And Rongen hasn't ruled him out.
I am so glad I was wrong. With no mention on any internet sight and Rongen's comment I assumed he was on a long term recovery. Please enlighten us to where he is in his recovery training. Thanks. Again sorry for the assumptions.
Hope he takes it easy- it's been a long wait and he can afford to make it a little longer if that's what it takes.
An update would be nice... Also, is there any other video of the kid in competition, all I could find on youtube was [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAJMb3O3YBw"]this[/ame] from three years ago to the day tomorrow.
He is just practicing. His MRI looked great. He was not registered to play in august because of rehab. He plays in the scrimmages and that is every week.
Your profile says you're in New York... where are you getting this information from? Can you provide a link?
I know you'd like a link, but some posters, in this case trophy case, have first hand information as they're family/friends of players and aren't linked to the media. I mean, he's not saying anything unbelievable, so I don't think we have a reason to not trust what he's saying.
When it comes to statements by anonymous people on the internet, my philosophy is the same as the one Reagan had in his dealings with the Soviet Union: trust, but verify
If he is a family friend, good enough for me. I was just curious because I was poking around the other day and couldn't find any info from the media or Hoffenheim. I really hope the kid is on his way to a full recovery.
How long is Charles able to train at Hoffenheim since he's not 18 yet? Is he just allowed to do what amounts to trials basically?
All you can ask. This isn't a disguised agent or family member pumping great achievements no one sees. It isn't someone blaming other coaches/the system because their player or boy can't get a fair chance. This is just about a kid being able to run, be healthy and play a game after all that has happened to him. Who knows what will happen, but just hoping he can come back and be healthy. Have zero expectations for him. Nice to hear he is even scrimmaging a bit.
