I was completely surprised when they only put up 2 minutes of injury time. After 3 goals were scored in the half and several injuries. And I was even more surprised when the ref blew the whistle exactly at the two minute mark even though a minute of that was stoppage for Eduardo.

The lack of foul calls and some obvious yellows was bad. But even that went both ways, more or less.

Yeah, I was totally expecting 5 minutes of stoppage time + whatever else was necessary on top of that to allow NYRB to score, per the goal of allowing for a NY-LA final. I wonder if the ref will wake up with a bull's severed head in his bed someday soon, courtesy of MLS HQ. :)

Holy crap! I knew it was going to go in after I saw Wondo leap---it was like it flashed right before my eyes!

    Great win by the lads!

It was a classic USMNT move from Convey and all the experience playing overseas. It was magnificent to watch!

Hey -- it was raining, miserable and cold. Did you really think the referee would want to stay out in that any longer than necessary?!?!? ;)

I don't get the Eduardo hate. I like our shape when he's in the game. Yeah, he's not the fastest guy, but I think he does a lot for our offense - winning the ball and distributing.

Glad he shut down Agudelo whenever they went one on one. Don't worry about BMac as he will most likely be in Europe making at least 5x his current pay next year.

    To each their own bubble!

Winning the ball, if it's not very far from him to begin with. I will give you the dsitribution part, but that only occurs if he wins the ball.

I would imagine people expect more from him, for obvious reasons. Walking around with hands on hips, not even halfway through a match is not going to endear a professional in any sport to any fan.

That is a good read and it lets me see the game with a new perspective. Recommend you guys to read it. Kind of like what Tim Hanley wrote at Centerline.com in the past.

Props to Jazzy since I believe he was the first on BS to recognize WONDO at RMF e.g., advantages.

Hah, I hardly think I deserve any credit for that! I think we all trashed Frank (myself included) for playing Wondo in midfield initially, but then when he scored a whole slew of goals from there, some people started to think it wasn't such a bad idea.

Just stopping by to say congrats on the win, I know that supporters over here have suffered a lot in recent year. It's really great that you have something to celebrate again!

I don't think so. I think if the ref sees it well and thinks Marquez is using his head as a weapon, it's simply a straight red.

I think it was pretty bad, even if Albright is a cry baby. if the ref doesn't think it was the slippery field that caused Corrales to have more than expected momentum, this could be a straight red too.

I think the ref was pretty fair, in large measure because NYRB fouled less.

I think the ARs weren't as good and missed some offside calls...both of them.

I actually timed the 2 sub and 2 injury stoppages (that's really all there were) and it comes it at 2 minutes, or slightly less. It doesn't appear there was any time added for the goals. I'm confused a bit on that.

It echoes the comment by the great George Best on David Beckham a few years back: "He can't head. He can't shoot with his left foot. He can't tackle. Apart from that, he is alright."

Bobby had a great game (obviously), but he did one really bad thing. Just after scoring his second goal, he was ball watching and didn't even notice as Angel stepped away from him to score. I'm sure the adrenaline surge from scoring hadn't subsided yet.

Ward really struggled to complete a pass. I'd be tempted to start Leach instead. I think he helps us keep the ball and get the offense started better than Ward. Next year I'm looking forward to seeing if Beta can earn a spot as an outside back.
