I'm going to Dallas next month on a short (2.5 days) business trip and about the only thing I'll have time to do for entertainment is eat dinner. I'll be staying at the Fairmont which is, I'm told, in the "art district". Does anybody know of some good restaurants in that area that I might try?

    Thanks, muchly.

I grew up in Dallas and it's a great restaurant town, so there are plenty of quality options.

Off the top of my head, I'd recommend Bob's Steak and Chop House on Lemmon as well as Baby Doe's Matchless Mine on Harry Hines, both are somewhat pricey. Monica's Aca y Alla is on Main does really good Mexican and Campisi's on Elm is probably the best bet for Italian.

    Hope that helps.

Bob's has got it going on. If you want some kick ass Italian, hit up Maggiano's.

Maggiano's is great, but it's a chain, Campisi's is more uniquely Dallas.

I'm going to get slaughtered for this...but I lived in Dallas for 15 years and every time I go back I go to Uncle Julio's for Tex-Mex...seriously excellent Mexican food, even though it has a bit of chain feel to it.

Uncle Julio's is really good, I'm definitely down with their fajitas. I got no beef with chains, but if somebody's only gonna be in town a couple days, I figure I'd try to suggest something that's a bit more distinctive.

    Thanks Folks.
I'll have to hit at least one of the Tex-Mex places. I haven't been to a really good steak house in a long time, either. Maybe I'll check out Bob's, too.
