    nasri is the new pires
but he has yet to live up with the name

pires mentoring nasri would definitely help :)

Pires was just silly-good sometimes and I think his departure had the biggest impact on the club's ability to win. Bobby knocked in goals for fun. Arshavin is the closest player we've had to him since he left and is nowhere near as effective.

Robert Pires was magic. Watching him I sometimes wondered if Pires was the best technical player at Arsenal.

I'd like to see Nasri get a run at Arshavin's position to see if he can come good. He only needs about a third of the chances Arshavin needs to score anyways.

in nasri's defence, he's still a good few years younger than pires was for his best seasons. he has lots to give arsenal (and already has done surprisingly well in contributions). i have faith in nasri.
nasri's major problem is the competition he faces for his preferred cm playmaker position. we could do with losing a cm or 2 and getting some proper width in.

Way off base mate. Slag Arshavin off for his workrate, his physical conditioning, even his passing, but the boy usually takes his chances.

i'd love to see pires finish out the season with us and stay on afterward as coach (or, even better, player/coach) next season. i would LOVE to see wilshere and nasri become special projects for pires.

I'd say Walcott could use time with Pires more than Wilshere.

i agree with walcott needing more help, particularly technically (where pires excels) but they are drastically different players and i'm not sure he would be able to help as much beyond just helping walcott sharpen up his technical abilities. wilshere, on the other hand, is already quite technically gifted and can be neat and tidy . . . if he can learn to be pires like with his efficiency (i love that pires is, really, simplicity itself), he can be amazing.

walcott, on the other hand, i would love to see if wenger (and bergkamp) can coax someone like overmars to come be a coach for him. i've only seen overmars in highlights but descriptions i've heard from my dutch friend is of someone that walcott would do well to emulate.

I've lost count of how many times he's been put through one-on-one and he's fluffed it this season.

you're right, he left at the right time... got a proper send off at Highbury and then when he came back with Villarreal

dont need to taint his image with the club

that and we are pretty stocked at his position, which wasnt the case with Sulzeer last season

I'm sure RP7 could show them a thing or two about making a penalty out of nothing... :D
