Just saw some of the scenes from the qualifier on TV. That maksed guy on the railing threw the flare with the intention of hitting the Italian player. Scary stuff!!!

What started this whole bust up? I wasn't aware of any Serbian/Italian footballing or political rivalry. Is there one?

I just pray that no one is hurt badly, and the fanatics realize that they are causing more harm to their team by their actions an mend their ways.

If you have read posts in this thread you would realize that they had intention to suspend the match, and therefore to harm their team.

No. It wasn't about Italy, the intention was to make incidents at the next big european away match (so Italians were "lucky" from that perspective :D) and to make sure it won't be played.

Were we awarded the victory? UEFA's official website and every other site I see just says "abandoned" without indication of whether Italy was awarded victory.

The last time something happened like this in a qualifier Sweden were awarded a 3-0 victory over Denmark when a fan came onto the field and tried to attack the ref in the 89th minute. What we saw yesterday was probably worse so there is only one outcome as the precedent has already been sent. It might take some time for UEFA to look at all the facts but Italy will be awarded a 3-0 victory which is better than if they actually played the game because there was no way Italy would beat Serbia by that score no matter what their form was.

Someone,in the italian side, exposed a flag of Albania.(it was probably just a joke).

Not, there isnt, but usally these matches, between Italian teams (national or clubs) and ex-Yugoslavian teams (national or clubs),are classified with mid/mid-high risk level.

According to Gazetta Dello Sport we will be awarded the 3 points.

I'd rather see them play it out...but the violence was so out of control that i was glad they suspend the game and player went home safely,so it wasn't 3 easy points as you stated...

It's not the way the fans or the players wanted to see 3 points. Many of us wanted a good test to see how far we have come since WC 2010. Falling ass backwards into this tournament will only embarrass us more in the long run.

Well there are many Albanians living in Italy probably trying to Mock the Serbs.

Apparently Lazio ultras provided the Serbs with flares and weapons...that would explain how those coaches made it into Italy...Lazio material was found inside the stadium.

Well I was thinking more about the fact that the same Serbian hooligans went around trashing the city in the afternoon. That they went onto the Serbia team bus and threw a bomb at their keeper before the match started. So I fail to see how anyone could try and start propping up the foolish idea that an Italian fan with the Albanian flag at the stadium started all this. It's a little insulting if you ask me.

In all seriousness I would rather have seen Italy play Serbia so they could test themselves against the better opposition in this group. Italian football at the moment is in need of proving themselves against better opponents. Although the numerical outcome will probably favor Italy, the missed experience will not. Italy needs all the challenges that come their way. An easy qualifying run with an automatic 3 points given doesn't really help Italy come time to play Euro 2012

YES....I believe she is still going out with Vieri. I remember when Vieri dated Elisabetta Canalis when she was cute but now her stock has fallen and had to settle for George Clooney.:D

so is UEFA going to award us with a 3-0 or what?? I don't see anything anywhere on this! They better not make us replay the game in an empty stadium because of these bastards!

So this whole fiasco happened because Italian fans exposed a flag of Albania? If that is true (doubt it) that deserves a harsher punishment in my opinion, because of how batshit retarded it is. The Kosovo situation is done, get over it

knowing how fans world works, that flag could be the last element of a elements sum.....some years ago Roma vs Lazio was canceled only because there were (false) news (it s better say voices) about an alleged incident occurred during the pre match.
