Strange lineup. Bit of a risk from Backe because this is a lineup we've never tried before. Also its weird to see Henry on the left and Lindpere on the right. Not their natural sides. I hope this means we can see both of them cut in from the wings and put tons of shots on goal. Both of them can strike the ball very well but we haven't seen too much of it.

My RBNY 3-2 RSL prediction depended upon an early goal. 2 or 3 opps already total but still 0-0

in 40th now I'm thinking 1-1 but hope not - intense like play offs, huh?

    Harden that steel RBNY!!!

Exciting 0-0 game so far. Each side probably feels a little jipped they didn't get a penalty (or, in NYRB's case, two -- those were clearly handballs by RSL in the box).

Red Bulls looking good, I think. Hope we come out in the second half and dominate possession like in the first.

I don't know Spanish but it was just on Telefutura. I'm sure there will be a SBI/MLS/RBR/NY Post article on this very soon.

Neither team can complain about a point, but a scoreless draw? Angel, Saborio should've stepped up to taken a few PK's each.

    quit being nosy...
Didn't Saborio trip over his own feet on the "non-PK" call? That's what it looked like to me on the replays.

our attack aint shit without Richards.
    Henry ???
    Angel ???
    Ballouchy psssh

Richards was missed , Marquez had no one to make those passes to , Neither Henry or Angel were making any runs. WTF kind of strikers are these ?

good game for 0-0...Henry was lost in midfield and had his momwents running down flank but couldn't dominated out there being constantly double teamed
Tchani and Ream were best players on pitch and Angel was a step too slow today with basically everything...his run at the end of game when Agudelo was through was just awful, either run near post or far post you can get ball standing between two guys

Don't know about anyone else, but i foudn the game to be a big disappointment. Sure Tim Ream looked great. But for all the talent on both sides of the ball, there was no heart anywhere. Just two teams who don't need to win, not trying to win. Angel was never in the right spot at the right time. Henry made one interesting juke, and spent the rest of the game making sloppy and slow passes. Miserable examples of diving everywhere.

had i been at the game, i would have wanted my money back.

What I don't understand is, how come you take so long to find out that Angel has been AWOL for more than a year now....in this game alone he screw or waste more than seven plays at goal and for what is gone for the year has wasting more than 100 plays of this kind....

It reminded me of the games early in the season at RBA where there was not much action or scoring.

Other than the shot in the 4th minute, did Ballouchy stand out? I know he's new to the team, but I don't think he's the "playmaker" that they somehow thought he would be.

Yes, the game missed Dane Richards as it seemed to grind to a halt in the 2nd half where one of the familiar fans who sits at midfield in the lower bowl loudly yelled out "Hey guuuys.....wake up.....it's the 87th minute!" :D

Is it safe to say Agudelo is a better option than Salou late in the game? :)

A side note.....I got to the game late because of a previous committment and waited about 12 minutes to get tickets, even though there were only 7 people in front of me . It's amazing that even in mid-October that they don't have their act together at the ticket office.

Also, I must have jogged past thousands of fans on the way there who didn't seem to mind that they'd be missing be a portion of the game. The first game I've been late to in about a decade, so it pisses me off to even miss the national anthem. I'm still trying to figure out why thousands each home game show up considerably late to a game that's only 90 minutes long.

At the end of the day, a tie against RSL is not a bad result at all. We really dominated the first half, save for the Andy Williams shot off the post. Second half was much worse but RSL did not have many great scoring chances. The ref was awful pretty much the whole game and he really let the physical play get out of hand. We should have had a pk, but RSL can make a very strong argument that they should have had one as well.

What was frustrating to me was the lack of direct play. Possession of the ball is great when you actually do something with it. Once we get the ball to the final third, nobody wants to shoot the damn ball. What ends up happening is a poor cross or a loss of possession leading to a dangerous counterattack. You can only play that way with a lead. That's when you really want the other team to chase the ball. When its tied they can afford to sit back a bit more and pick and choose when they want to challenge for the ball.

How many saves did Nick Rimando have to make? 1 or 2 at most. Lindpere, Hnery, Angel and Marquez can all shoot from distance. They need to do taht more. 1 shot from distance today from Marquez. That's it. Other teams don't take that as a threat because we never do it. If we do, it can open up more space when teams have to be more cautious defending strikes from distance.

Also not having Richards hurt. I'm guessing we won't see this formation any more. This formation was more about who we had available than tactics I think.

tactics cost us a chance for a win. I would have simply placed Balouchy in richards spot and kept everyone else in their best positions. Lindpere on left, tchani in middle and Henry up top in a 4-4-2 where we play best. too much changing of positions for my liking.

Game was screaming out for a sub 10 minutes earlier. Backe seemed strangely content with the draw based on his lack of pro-active changes.

Now you understand why I insist to put this Kids to play, no matter what kind of game we are playing during the season, because once we come to the play off will be mostly impossible, Agudelo is a classic example of why, next time put him for 30 some minutes and like this in the play off we will know who is ready to sub for Henry or Angel.....Angel and Henry were AWOL all the 90 minutes and bring any player for them wasn't made any difference, same to play any of the new forwards for Salou, we will not loose nothing for that, because in any instance Salou never, ever do anything than collect his 264K and live the "Vida Loca".....

I agree. I was surprised by the formation, and as the game wore on it was obvious it wasn't working. I was almost sure that change would be made at halftime, but no. And so the goose egg is not surprising.
