Lil' Jason poo is all growed up?

He should have had atleast Beckerman or Will in to start... I think resting the players was a good idea, but not having atleast one of the starting midfielders (With Andy in AM) was a mistake...

He is showing more maturity with his decisions, so yes "lil' jason poo is growing up"

we drew 1-1, had the better of the play overall, and rested key players.

Say what you will, but JK's plan worked to perfection.

Did we need to win this game? No. The SS is 3rd on the list for JK. 4th is the RMC. He wants to win CCL, MLC CUP, SS, then RMC. Hell, we clinched a ********ing playoff spot with this draw. I dont think Kries did anything wrong.

BTW, I like this tradition of clinching a spot against the cRapids

Yes, they've taken it down. The link was working earlier, but now it goes straight to Borcher's goal, which was the video right after the unPK call.

Edit: I spoke too soon. Looks like it's back up now, but was not working a few minutes ago. Try this link: http://www.mlssoccer.com/videos?catid=114&id=9107

This may have been mentioned by a few others....

but how about that crowd on Saturday - playoff intensity and it was PACKED - 18,000+ WITH both BYU and Utah at home the same evening? Are you kidding me?

This club has come a LONG ways..... they are becoming more and more relevant with the local sports scene by the week.

If you were in the stadium for the ending of that game, I'm not sure how you could not come away impressed from the whole experience. That was one of the more exciting games we have seen this season.

    Love the rivalry with Colorado....

there had to be some deal going on with youth teams during that game. I noticed each section had a random color to it throughout the stadium.

With that said, the energy was amazing. even if we only converted a quarter of those kids/families that came... thats a good chunk.

The atmosphere was great, but lets not forget to give credit to the traveling fans. Whenever they show up/make noise, the whole place gets louder as our fans (rightfully so) try to drown them out.

yup, the stadium looked and sounded great on tv. even early on, i was surprised by that. utah sports fans are notorious for being late shows, but at kickoff the stands looked really full. i was shocked and happy considering the utes were still playing and byu had barely finished up probably less than 1 hour before.

winning cures all. hopefully RSL can keep this up for several years in a row, the fanbase will be amazing.

Was that the Rapids fans singing Seven Nation Army, or one of our groups?

I heard it on the broadcast, and don't think that I've ever heard it at Rio Tinto before.

If it was our guys, it sounded cool.

If it was Class II, it sounded sooooo 2008.

Haven't heard any White Stripes in the South End. We did have a few people singing "Won't Back Down" by Tom Petty, because Tom Petty is the ********ing man.

I have watched the replay of the non penalty after the penalty call numerous times since I got home and Yes the official blew the call badly.
Not only as pointed out earlier did Wynn not agrue the call, he after handling the ball immediatly pulled his arms back behind his back as if saying "I did not handle that ball".
Strange thing is the official saw the play, made the correct call, and then lost his balls when confronted by Colorado players. Question from a old thread? would goal line officials have been benificial to getting that call correct??
As to starting Mckinsey, Why not give the start to Schuler? he has played well enough in his last two matches to earn the start. Schuler is not tired from playing too many minutes, or probably not needed to start against Toronto.
To me it looked like Jason was rewarding players like Campos, Warner and Mckinsey for reasons other than their impact on the field.
I hope this rested team can get 3 in Toronto, or the lost 2 points against Colorado will hurt even more.

  12. I brought a co-worker who hates soccer and always makes fun of it in the office. Today he can't shut up about the game. He said, "if you'd told me last week that I would be talking about how fun a 1-1 soccer game was I would've called you a liar."

He has purchased tickets to the next game on his own.

I got a buddy to watch the game with me who doesn't normally watch soccer or even follow RSL, but now he has been asking questions left and right about it and wants to get tickets to the next game. It's cool to see RSL become a bigger name and to see the fan support increase.

    Well done my friends!

Most games, regardless of the opponent, are great times to take someone to a game. Rio Tinto and the atmosphere alone are enough to pique someones interest in the game but if Saturday night was their first experience I can see how they would be hard pressed not to have caught the soccer bug.

That game started with a higher sense of urgency and importance that gradually began to build, softened by the Crapids goal of course, but the effort that RSL"B" continued on with had me salivating for the playoffs. That was a great ending I would bet that if you were to take someone new to a playoff game, win or lose, they would have to be impressed.

As a former rabid BYU football fan, thanks Gary Crowton for curing me, sitting, mostly standing, during the game with 18,000+ fans on a night that both BYU and Utah played at home I just smiled and thought that their is no place I would rather be. I would rather watch BYU women's soccer on KBYU now over BYU football. Definitely the BYU women's volleyball team, but that's another story all together.

Dont' get me wrong I still enjoy watching football but I always check to see if I am missing a soccer game on the Mexican stations first. Same goes for the Jazz. I did not watch 1 full game last year, regular season or playoffs, and I don't miss it at all.

RSL is king on my list and will be win or lose. I pollyanna'd through the first few years and will enjoy every moment until I have to get out the blinders again.

    Go RSL!

The atmosphere in the stadium was amazing. Id say the last 15-20 minutes of the game, you could feel the anxiety of the fans. And most definitely in stoppage time, the tension was out of control!!

I have watched, repeatedly, the highlights. I am amazed to see people walking up the stairs right as Andy is putting the ball in. This is soccer people - never leave before the final whistle is blown! And the reaction - the guy in the yellow shirt behind the boards cracks me up everytime as he jumps up and down in pure joy. The eruption of the crowd, the players mass congratulatory hug... If I wasnt there, I would have been severly dissapointed.

I had a good laugh, as well, with the people leaving. If this team has taught me anything, its never leave early during a RMC match.

Interesting note from Scott Pierce in SLTrib -

ARGUING WITH THE FANS: Listening to the radio postgame coverage of Real Salt Lake on Saturday, a lot of fans were clearly unhappy with Coach Jason Kreiss’ decision to rest many starters against Colorado for Tuesday’s CONCACAF Champions League game at Toronto.

Radio co-host Spencer Checketts was defensive, combative and, at times, even insulting to those fans. The people who buy the tickets.
Not many people employed by any professional franchise could get away with that.

But not many have the same last name as the guy who owns the team.

Can somebody tell me what stations we air on when the Utes take over Kall 700?

Wondering the same thing. I turned on 700 looking for the post-game and when I heard the Utes I just switched it back off. Where should I have gone?

It was on 570. I listened to most of the show and yes Spence was Spence but seemed restrained a bit. It was a little odd the amount of negativity coming from fans and it certainly caught me of gaurd.

It seems like the fans that call 700 aren't the same fans that are on here. Am I generally right in that assessment?

Spence has a right to an opinion too, ya know...

He was right though. You would have thought that we had just finished the season 0-30 and not even come close to the playoffs. Think about it, we drew one of "the hottest teams" in the league with a B squad. If anything, people should have called in and said hot damn we have a good team

To understand that, however, one would need to leave the emotions of the rivalry at the door.... something that just isnt going to happen.

Both sides made decent arguments, but Spence had every right to defend a team that is the defending MLS Cup champs and still (despite what some may think) in the SS chase while also winning in CCL

Pierce forgot to mention that Spence not only shares the last name of the team owner, but the last of the radio station owner.

    Now that's job security.

As I was listening to the post-game going home, I couldn't help but wonder if those upset with the lineup followed the outside of the two hours they spend at the stadium for each home game they attend.

Given all the games we had just played and all the games coming up, it was only logical to rest some starters. Anyone who follows the team didn't mind too much. We'd seen our "B" team get results before this year (@ Phil, @ Arabe, etc) and we knew we have quality backups.

We'd seen guys step up in big games and through injuries (Alexandre when KB5 was out, Shuler, McKenzie, Reynish, Bletran). I was disappointed in the lineup, surprised, but I had confidence in them.

    Follow the team more!
