The nine team tournament split in three Groups, has teams from Norway, Switzerland, Ukraine and the USA The Metrostars are in Group A with Norwegian Bodo Glimit and Viking _________________ Dallas in Group B and San Jose in Group C
Welcome to a few days ago when this was discussed. A bit unnerving that there was an [R] in the thread, as the boys dont even play for another day...
the R is very important to me, I had yellow cards and red cards before without the R, its away of protecting myself
I thought it was unwritten policy on this board not to card someone for posting results for a game that no one will be able see anyway. Is someone actually going to say, "Damn! I Tivo'ed that game!"
It's very simple. This thing called the Internet that Al Gore invented, goes all over the World, as in planet Earth. So there could be a situation where someone in Norway or Spain has taped the game and is first reading this thread. We don't want to ruin it for him, do we?
The team will continue with the double sessions until their first game in La Manga Cup on Wednesday, February 25 against Viking of the Norwegian first division at noon local time (6:00 a.m. ET). Will anyone here be doing the PBP for us? Assuming the Viking's website is updated, they sure do have some mean looking guys on that team: http://www.viking-fk.no/
[R] below....... Viking FK beat Metro, 1-0 Seier på La Manga by Line Jørgensen Viking vant 1-0 over Metro Stars (USA) i dagens kamp på La Manga. Laget: Frod Olsen (Iven Austbø), Bjørn Dahl, Aleksander Gabrielsen, Brede Hangeland (Andrè Danielsen), Thomas Pereira, Tom Sanne (Jone Samuelsen) Bjarte Lunde Aarsheim, Trygve Nygaard, Peter Kopteff (Erik Fuglestad), Erik Nevland (Jørgen Tengesdal), Hannes Sigurdsson. According to my calculations the Metro squad in Spain is missing around 24 goals from last year's squad due to transfers, trades and injuries. It will be interesting to see whom, if anyone, steps up in this tournament and puts a couple in the back of the net.
The game summary is now up on the Metros website: MetroStars Lineup: GK – Zach Wells; D – Craig Ziadie, Chris Leitch, Tim Regan, Austin McCann (David Hayes 63); M – Amado Guevara, Michael Bradley, Eddie Gaven, Joselito Vaca; F – Mike Nugent (Olivier Occean 46), John Wolyniec (Danilo 57). Viking Lineup: GK – Frod Olsen (Iven Austbø 46); D – Bjørn Dahl, Aleksander Gabrielsen, Brede Hangeland (Andrè Danielsen 86), Thomas Pereira; M – Tom Sanne (Jone Samuelsen 69), Bjarte Lunde Aarsheim, Trygve Nygaard, Peter Kopteff (Erik Fuglestad 89); F – Erik Nevland (Jørgen Tengesdal 73), Hannes Sigurdsson. Scoring Summary: Viking: Peter Kopteff (unassisted) 75’ Disciplinary Summary: MetroStars: Craig Ziadie (yellow card) 39’ Viking: Brede Hangeland (yellow card) 40’ MetroStars: Austin McCann (yellow card) 44’ MetroStars: Amado Guevara (yellow card) 45’ MetroStars: Craig Ziadie (red card) 55’ MetroStars: Amado Guevara (red card) 90’ Lots of cards issued for a "meaningless" game. Probably the first yellow Amado has recieved that did not involve him rolling around on the ground.
Yeah, one yellow in the last minute of each half for Guevara. He got the second one for "not giving the ball back right away" after a foul call. http://metrostars.com/metronews/submissions/2004/february/02252004v1.shtml The Metro need this guy to step up and be a real team leader this season.
How does a guy get a second yellow for holding the ball too long IN THE 90TH MINUTE, WHILE TRAILING 1-0!!!!????!!!! Looks like you guys are in mid-season Metro form!
I guess Tank Bradley didn't inform the ref that Guevara is really a combination of Alex Pineda Chacon and Carlos Ruiz.
Anyone know anything about Danilo? I did some searching on google, and this is what I found. I'm not sure if it is the same guy. This guy played for Binghampton University last year. Here is an article on the guy from Binghampton. This is why I think he is the same guy on the La Manga roster: It sounds like he is a #10-type player.
More like the Swedish ref was in top form for an MLS official. I thought calls like that only occurred in our league.
Uhh it's Binghamton, no p. I saw the BU men play a couple games last season and nobody really stood out. Last years team was nothing special, compared to this past seasons team which was excellent and made it a long ways in the NCAA tourny. The real standouts of the BU soccer team were the Scots, not Danilo.
Nye spillere er: Hans Jørgen Andersen (Aalesund), Ville Lehtinen (Tampere United), Aasmund Bjørkan (Vålerenga), Per Ivar Steinbakk (Lørenskog), Jan Egil Brekke (TUIL), Tom Høgli (Skånland), Ole Arvid Langnes (Kongsvinger), Trond Fredrik Ludvigsen (Hertha Berlin, 15.08.) Spilleravganger: Christian Steen (Aalesund), Bengt Sæternes (Club Brügge), Eirik Dybendal (Häcken), Sami Sakka (Alta), Rohnny Westad (lagt opp), Bjørn Arve Lund, Mike Peltola (kontrakten avsluttet juni 03) Okay, any predictions for tomorrow against FK Bodø/Glimt?
