We are asking for a $5 suggested donation from the players, or anyone that wants to donate, with all the money going to the charity of hosting teams choice. WE NEED: Someone with connections in the Canyons District that can get us a field at Jordan Beetdiggers School, or another field nearby the trax stop by the stadium. A ref! Nets and corner flags
I don't think anyone would want me playing on the team, but because this is my first "kid-free" day since getting home from the honeymoon I'd be happy to help if I can. Just call me or send a message if we can help. I make an awesome cheering section!
I really like the charity aspect of this now. $5 is easy to come by, but with that many people is a good chunk of change for whatever charity is picked. Knowing Utah people, I would get about 20-25 "signed up" as then 15-20 are likely to show up
No sliding tackles? Then how am I supposed to break a cRapid leg? What fun is that? If you need a ref, I can do it, but only if I don't have to even appear like I'm neutral.
on FB this thing is listed as starting at 4:30 am.... just fyi anyways, seems we will have enough to play. Very excited. Any word on a field?
Still working on a field. I am beginning to think that we will just squat at Jordan High. Anybody have any experience there? Is it usually open at 5 on a saturday?
A word to the wise on squatting (as someone who has done it lots before): it's risky to squat someplace that's only got one field. If you get unlucky and someone is out there, you're irrevokably screwed. That's why I suggest squatting someplace like Cottonwood Rec (where we squat for Gravy Cup) or WJSC. Or are there multiple fields at Jordan High?
The problem with Cottonwood is only one team would be able to get there. Unless we want to shuttle all the rapids fans around.
Yeah, I get that...I'm just saying that you may want to have a backup plan. And regardless of where we go, there will only be one team there. If this game is even close I will be disappointed. Yeah, I just said that.
We might have to do that. We tried the official way of getting a field by calling the school districts and got laughed at. So it may be up to the shuttle system. Dont worry about the score, 15-32 is playing, and if he walks the walk, it will be a blowout!
Wish I had a cheat sheet with everybody's BS name and real name, that way I can give them shit on BS if they suck. Wait, that means they could do the same to me....never mind.
no pressure, eh? didnt IBIK say he could find us a pitch? I'm patrick, you all can give me shit. I'll be rusty as I dropped Westminster Soccer this year to focus on the family, school, work, and LSAT
I did. But apparently nobody from Colorado can afford a rental car, so we have to play them somewhere near a trax station. If you know of a good field somewhere near a trax station - and oh yeah, it can't cost any money - now would be the time.
lazy cRapid fans... i see the dilema. Are their lines/goals at the field next to the 94th station? I dont think so, but it wouldnt hurt to look.
No. That's a lacrosse field. And there aren't any goals. Not that our opponent could hit one anway...
We are looking in to a few parks near by the stadium. Would anyone be willing to help shuttle the opposing team to the park and back if we need it? For your troubles I will get you a parking pass in the tailgate lot.
Murray City park has 2+ fields but the goals get locked up after club games. I'm sure if someone contacted the city they could make a deal. It's walking distance to TRAX stop (Murray Central - 5300 south).
So I guess we are just going to play at raintree. if anyone has cones or portable goals, bring them along, it would be very helpful. If ranitree absolutely doesn't work, we will head to Jordan high. if that doesn't work, we will try next year. See you all tomorrow at 4:30!
So we're playing a game with no goals...because CO fans won't leave the friendly confines of the trax line? Next time, maybe we can convince them to get a loan from mom so they can rent a car to get to the game. Well, the "did that one go in" arguments ought to be epic...
