In the backwards, bizarro parallel soccer universe.

Wonder what would happen if FO came up to the Ultras and Casbah and told them to sit down on TV?

"Oh look Abner, they're so wonderfully obedient!"

half? more like 75%, and an 18k seat stadium would be filled to about... 5% capacity.

I was just in Guadalajara, and the stadium there closest to our Epicenter would be el Estadio 3 de Marzo (where Estudiantes Tecos, formerly Tecos UAG) play. the place was full and rocking for el clasico Universitario (UAG vs UNAM) and i loved how small and intimate it was. I was in the "upper section" and still felt incredibly close to the field. I'd much rather have a 3 de Marzo type stadium that fills up easily than an Estadio Jalisco that looks and sounds like a mausoleum because we average 20 k in an 80k stadium.

i dont like high walls around the field like red bull arena i prefer an epl style with the fans right on the field level.

So in September last year they announced the plans, September this year they announced the architects......September next year they will announce the construction company and in September 2012, they will have a gound breaking ceremony. By March-May 2014, just before the Brazilian World Cup the Quakes will open their new Soccer Specific Stadium and many national teams will play exhibition World Cup warm up games there on their way to Brazil.........I have it all figured out! ;)

Yes, one without approval and one missing $500 million in financing, those look like sure bets. Any day now.

Always nice when the city pitches in a generous portion of the construction funds...

If you don't like our delay, don't live in San Jose, that's just the way it is these days, ok...

Or invent the next revolutionary tech gadget in your garage, and contribute your own $$$$$$$$ to the cause.

    OTOH,
fortune 500 companies are doing very well in terms of corporate profits.
e.g., Apple, Google, Cisco, Oracle, HP, Intel, etc. My apologies if I missed anyone, especially, if "you" like the Quakes

So well that one may want their highly profitable name on the roof of the Epicenter?

That's what I really don't get.. with HUGE profits in the BILLIONS of dollars, why wouldn't one of the Silicon Valley tech companies be willing to sponsor the Quakes?

I have asked myself that question too, and I think is all depend who's selling the product. I really don't think the Quakes are efficently promoted, como'n , let be honest, if it wasn't because the fans, the Quakes are almost un-existance. For example: i work by fisherman's wharf in the city, and a lot of my coworkers and friend from the same area didn't know of the Quakes before me, and most of them are soccer- involved.
Most of these tech companies see the Quakes and the MLS as waste of time and money and sadly this time is not up to us or our job to convience them otherwise. It's the FO that should hire a proffesional in order to sell the image not only of the club but also of the entire league.

We don't have short memory, we're talking about sponsorship for the stadium, not jerseys.

It actually looks really good, and if we were to get something along the same lines that would make me very happy.

And Portland has already sold 22 of 23 luxury suites on a multi year basis, but we don't need that kind of money here in San Jose.

Good. We don't need couches, refrigerators, shag carpeting, buffet tables, pointless walls, and dumb rich people with bad taste at the stadium. Thankfully, it's a new world - green, smart and simple, not excessive and wasteful, socially interactive - connected, and mobile.

You're right, we don't need the millions of Dollars it could bring to the teams coffers, the corporate sponsorship or the credibility demanded by the "movers and shakers" Don G. so often refers to as the people we need supporting our team.

No luxury suites is not something top brag about it is something to be worried about. But it seems as though you've decided what is the best way for everyone else to watch and support the Earthquakes. With you as the arbiter of the proper way to enjoy soccer how could we go wrong?
