He didn't have anyone to defend, did he? Who does NE have on the left? Spend the money on a better defender who can cover the for the CB's and put Wynne on the right. Kimura's inability to maintain possession could be a killer when trying to win in the playoffs. IMO probably out biggest liability. I don't know how to count that high.
Wynne's probably preferable on the right, but I don't think he's shown more as far as pushing forward. He has shown that he's a real gem in the middle, to the extent that I'd almost prefer him there. I thought both Kimura and Wallace were pretty loose with the ball last night, but I also felt that a lot of that would have been solved if Pablo and Larentowicz checked to the ball and actually showed some willingness to be the link forward between the back and the front. In my opinion, that's what will hurt the team down the stretch, it contributes to a lot of the long ball play and also poor passes.
Just one question. WHO ARE THESE GUYS? And what have they done with the beloved laughable losers we have watched the last several years? OK, that probably counts as two questions. All around, a well-played match. New England is awful, but to the Rapids' credit, the team showed a killer instinct and didn't let NE hang around in a 1-0 struggle. To me, that was the biggest difference with the team we saw during the summer slump. Cummings and Casey came oh so close to combining for another goal in the second half. But for a great save, that would have been a GOTW candidate. A few players had scattered shaky moments, but the performance was much, much better this week. I liked what I saw.
