What/When

Toronto FC will continue their first-ever foray in the CONCACAF Champions League group stage when they pay a visit to Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah to take on Real Salt Lake from the U.S. in a CONCACAF Champions League group stage match on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at 10:00 pm EDT.

Toronto FC is in Group A along with Real Salt Lake, Club Deportivo, Social, y Cultural Cruz Azul AC and Club Deportivo Árabe Unido.

This game will be shown live on GOL TV Canada (http://www.goltv.ca/) in Canada and Fox Soccer Channel (http://msn.foxsports.com/foxsoccer/, English) in the U.S..

I suspect it will be an 8 man barricade in front of Frei, with DeRo as a second striker/attacking mid supporting either Mista or Maicon Santos on top, working to get a point. Looking to grind out a scoreless draw or perhaps hope one of Gargan's long throws to Attakora or Cann can result in a goal, then rely on Frei's agility to steal the result.

I think Preki will play guys like Usanov and Harden again so he can rest the starters for the next league game. That would be too bad since this is the only competition that TFC is still "in."

This is fast evolving into our only hope. If we get a decent result from this game watch for Preki to make this a priority over the league in terms of how he decides to rest his players.

Preki will have no more say in what players to play...hopefully that means the end of Garcia and Peterson to name 2.

Any news on Barrett? Hoping he can get out there soon.

I'm actually really interested to see what kinda lineup we'll have out there, just to get an idea of how much Preki's favouritism played a roll in the lineup card.

Exactly.. will it be business as usual, or will there be something different. Of course they may play looser and then lose 5-1.. At this point, I just want to be entertained and not feel I'm watching a rock-scissors-paper match.

Apart from OB for Barrett, that's our best starting 11. I forgot about Mista too but if he and Barrett can be available as late subs, we'll be in good shape, of course I'm only guessing that they are both fit to play. I'm hoping.

The RSL fans who are there tonight must be pissed off about that one. All 150 of them.

Kudos to White for making that pass. For a guy who's goal output has been low, it's pretty big of him to sacrifice a good chance for himself for a better chance for someone else.

great start for TFC!

I've had to turn the volume off the internet feed - the aussie commentator clearly has no knowledge of soccer, or has not done any research into the game:

- DeRo was pronouced DeRosio
- Claims the goal was off side because the final pass was a forward pass (perhaps he's normally a rugby commentator)
- TFC and RSL are rivals (agree for this tournament), and have a long history (er...).
