I've been watching Felipe play with malaga last season and i really liked his style of playing. He' tough and has got a great touch. So I'm going to be watching him play w his new team Levante. Hope he has a good year. How good is Levante tho?

Their season objective is simply to stay in the first division.

This is problably not the thread to say this but if Caicedo keeps getting chances in Europe, it's problably on a matter of time befor Marlon de Jesus and Jaime Ayovi get bought from some European team.

The way things are going, I think Ayovi will be long gone from Emelec after December. Marlon's gonna take some time. I don't think it'd be good for Marlon to leave anytime soon anyway he's still too young.

I hope their agents are smart and don't just stick them on any team that offers a few bucks.

I look at Antonio Valencia's situation and think how easily he could have rotted at Villarreal and never had a real chance. I believe he got lucky because Wigan is a team that buys young players from Latin America and grooms them and gives them exposure.

What I'm saying is that if these guys get offers to play abroad they should consider what is the best option for them, not only in terms of pay, but also in terms of getting playing time, international exposure, culture, climate, etc. They should learn the hard lessons of guys like Kaviedes, Guerron and Bolanos and not waste their time somewhere where they are not appreciated and end up a shadow of the player they used to be.

yeah I just hope Ayovi doesn't stay in Emelec next year b/c theres certain players who actually can't repeat their successes in the ecua league 2 years in a row. And that sometimes leads to frustration, especially if the player wants to leave/is ready to leave. Theres players like Rojas who seem glad to remain in Emelec 2 years in a row and therefore still expose the same good quality of futbol. But your right, they must choose wisely where they're gonna go. I think Rojas is ready to go as well, it will do him good. The extra year in Emelec seemed to have helped him b/c in the past 2 months he's been displaying great futbol. Reason why i want to see him and Ayovi up front at some point vs Mexico. There's great chemistry b/t them.

So many people including myself had such high hopes for Felipao but he let us all down. He is far from being El tin delgado's succesor. However he has looked a little better lately, either way this is his last season to prove his worth. I guarantee anyone that if he doesnt score around 15 goals this season he will be released from city and he will end up playing in the ecuadorian league with no sucess. I believe he can do it but he needs to grow some balls and work harder.

The problem with this guy is his youth. He has been a mercenary type of player in europe.. and unlucky for him, his rights were bought by man city right b4 the middle eastern guys came in... this meant the club was going to stock up every player regardless of cost (which they did) and now he is on loan for merely months at a time.
Playing this way will never let him evolve as a player, let alone become accustomed to a style of playing. Hopefully he can do that this year and be consistent. He also needs to work on his header skills.. with his size he should be killing within the box.

Good for him...starting a debut with a goal is a good way to start...to bad they lost...I would have prefered they tie...Levante is in last place now so that cant be good. Anyways...I know he came on in the 66th, how well did he play during the time he was in??

I know Montero came on too...in the 82nd, I bet those danm Yanks on the Jozy Shore thread are prob. mad that Montero came on instead of Altidore

If only Caicedo would have scored 3-4 goals like that for us in the WCQ, things would have been different (sigh)

Anyways, all joking aside, If Caicedo plays 30 games and scores 10-12 goals, then I think we can say he had a good season. They also got to get out of the basement and get some wins

did you guys watch Drogba yesterday vs. Blackpool? Say what you want about the opponent, but damn, that guy was literally eating up every damn defender...talk about an offensive clinical performance.

Caicedo scored today in Levante's win against Real Sociedad. They won 2-1. Caicedo started the game and scored in the 68th.

here is Caicedo's goal. great use of his body to out-muscle the opponent and score. If he can score 5 goals til December then that'll be great. He's off to a good start.
