I said that many posts earlier.
As far as I know Fernandinho and Douglas Costa would be in NT from Shakhtar this September.

I was told that Alex was going to be out for a while with an injury. He's healthy?

Shame on me , I forgot about Alex, Fernandinho and Coutinho.

I'm quite happy with this list, he is trying a very wide range of players so I'm sure that by 2012 we will have a very good team.

Pretty much. I like the call-up but am surprised not to see the WC veterans I view as locks (not for starting but for being in the picture) such as Maicon and Julio Cesar. I figured Mano would want to bring in players like that if he expects them to compete with the new guys in 2014. Looks like he is really focused on one thing at a time (Olympics first, WC second) which is probably best even in treating these cycles as 4 years long. I would've loved to see Coutinho, though I suppose he's one of those who benefited from no Brazilian-based players being called up as Mano didn't have to pick between this or that guy he might want to test.

every starter from the USA game is back except for the Santos pair of Ganso and Neymar, and the goalie Victor.

apparently mano said that the WC vets will return in 2011. i figure those guys don't have anything to prove right now so mano is gonna test the younger guys to see who will fit in with the veterans for the eventual Copa America team.

my guess is that the vets will return for the France friendly in February. We could see a team like this with 11-12 vets...

    Julio Cesar
    Diego Alves
    Gomes

    Maicon
    Dani Alves

    David Luiz
    Thiago Silva
    Lucio
    Juan

    Andre Santos
    Michel Bastos / Marcelo

    Sandro
    Ramires
    Elano
    Lucas

    Hernanes
    Ganso
    Douglas Costa

    Robinho
    Luis Fabiano
    Neymar
    Hulk / Andre

Hulk/Andre over Pato? I'd assume Pato will be a regular for Mano unless his form is horrible or he is hurt.

lol i forgot about pato haha.

although honestly, i would bet that Man would call up 5 forwards and just drop a midfielder.

There are 4+1 guys who will be the "core" of the team:

Ganso, Neymar, Robinho, Andre, plus Pato.

add 6 others, and you have a hexacampeao for 2014.
    :D

I really don't rate the Hulk. Watch him a couple of times in the champion league. He is selfish and has horrible decision making.

Im really happy to see Fernandinho in the squad, i always thought he should have been in the squad for a long time.

It's sad that Denilson is injured, however he is nearing full fitness but i guess he needs to play a lil more first.

hulk is tough to figure out. he honestly reminds me of afonso alves when it comes to his career trajectory. here, we have 2 forwards who were nothing in brazil and come out of the blue. hulk with a 2nd division japanese team. and afonso alves with a swedish team. sheesh, at least alves was successful when he played in the dutch league, although he's obv faded into obscurity. hulk still hasn't quite succeeded in portugal and he's been there for 2 full seasons, although half of this past season was ruined bc he went ape-shit like Hulk hahaha.

I really dont get the worry about Hulk, before his ban with Porto he was 1 of their star players.

He always had good champions league performances despite what that other dude is saying and was gaining a good reputation around Europe. I dont think you can compare him to Afonso Alves, that is unfair...Hulk has been starring in Europe's best competition, Afonso mainly in the dutch league....big difference.

I would like to see Welliton get a chance too. He is a young great striker that can score in a lot of different ways. I've been watching Spartak Moscow a bit lately and he scored a hattrick 2 games in a row now. He was great last year too. Alex is also a player I really like, his left foot is one of the best I've seen in a long time. He really knows how to organize the game. He was great in Internacional too.

Just watched Spartak's latest game, guess I was wrong about Ari :p I need to watch more Russian league matches.

Welliton scored a hattrick, the guy has some really good positioning.

I don't know if this is the right place to post this but Dani Alves was great today. When he is at his best he is the best RB in the world IMO(I know a lot of people won't agree). I believe he has so much in him and he is almost playing like a right back/offensive midfielder/attacker at the same time. He is everywhere and he does it good, he is organizing the game and he is involved in every attack and at the same time he makes good tackles and works hard in defense. One of the most entertaining players around IMO(I guess the opponents doesn't think the same:p).
