I know, I can't believe SCP didn't pick him up for free.
Honestly he was a key figure for your title last year.

I demand that Roberto now be referred to as QFR, "Quique Flores Revenge".

That's what I'll be calling him for the rest of the year.

While Sidnei was terrible, Dude, Roberto was completely out of position on that goal. There's no excuse for that. If the team is gonna replace Quim, they should not have replaced him with someone who is just as bad. Kinda defeats the purpose. Madrid must have been laughing all the way to the bank. Still can't believe JJ didnt sign Eduardo last season or before the WC. Talk about missing the boat.

your right Sporting will go 28-1-1 and win the league

final game of the season away at braga, sporting will celebrate the title after Pongolle scores in the 93rd minute to tie 1-1 at Estadio axa, with the ball deflecting off two players, the post, and into the net). CAMPEOES

lol ya I know. BUT.... transfer window isnt closed. more time for epic legends like Bernardo Corradi to make their way to Portugal's premier and most global global export next to Port wine: Sporting Clube de Portugal.

You guys are exactly why I love being Portuguese. Kinda reminds me of when one of TAP's Airbuses lands in Lisbon and the old geezers start clapping and rejoicing. You know, it's nice to land safely when puff the magic dragon flies from one destination to another. I always wondered how planes fly? It must be magic. It's the same magic that will bring Sporting the title this season.

You are entitled to your opinion. I try my best to not insult people because it's inappropriate. However, I for one didn't go on your forum and bash your team for losing. Why not? It's not funny. You obviously, enjoyed the Benfica loss. Good for you. It's early and things will change and improve, but Porto and Braga might be fighting for the Liga this season and when they each beat Sporting twice I'll be silently laughing. Hell, Academica will probably beat you guys. Don't worry because I won't bash your team on your forum.

Oh, BTW, the "Cinco Violinos" will not be coming back to help you guys either....

wow i just laughed, i dont think I bashed Benfica in this thread. its just the first game, who knows maybe Academica will finish in the top 3 for all we know. we dont know what can happen, thats the beauty of the beginning of the season every team has hopes of acheiving their goals...

You tied last season;s season openeer and still won so anything can happen at this point. you still have a good team i dont think its as good as last seasons, but u guys have lots of dinheiro from the sales of di maria and ramires, and will probbaly splash it around like usual. it comes down to will we see a repeat of 08/09 when large investment equalled zero return, or will we see 09/10 when the investment paid off finally? lets wait and see. Benfica has more money than brains maybe theyll luck out again this season and maybe they wont.

as for the cinco violinos, they are a part of the past but they will always be in the hearts of Sporting Nation. Jesus Coreia, Jose Travassos, Fernando Peyroteo, Albano Pereira, Manuel Vasques. Best. Ever.

...but remember, before you can land safely you need to say a few tercos and, hopefully, if someone has a guitar in their overhead compartment, you can have a few rounds of cantoria in coach.

If Vieira doesn't sign an experienced CB, then he's a really blind man.

Oh Man...That second Académica goal...it was from like 30 meters...no way you can not blame the Keeper from that distance. The striker was good, but 30 meters are alot.

    That's Rui Costa's job :p

Should have never gotten rid of Miguel Vitor. Hard working kid right there. Him and Carrico are Portugal's future CBs.

Just finished watching the game, and a poor performance from Benfica. The first half was forgettable, the second half Benfica played better, but it just wasn't enough. Way too many missed passes and balls lost for a team trying to win. Sidnei gives me little confidence in the back. Terrible way to start the season, but hopefully this is a lesson learned.

Academica started 5 Portuguese players while Benfica started 3.

The only reason Miguel Vitor was loaned was because David Luiz was staying. Benfica knows he's a future star, thats why they loaned him out so we could keep gaining experience since he wouldnt get much playing time with Luisao and Luiz still on the squad and didnt want his talent to go to waste and rot on the bench.

Anyways, like Jay-Z says...ON TO THE NEXT ONE!!! Poor start by Benfica last year and it resulted in LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!!! SLB! Nacaional will be tough though!

I'd love to see benfica start a cast of portuguese players on benfica, but they like to try and develope south americans instead.

    too bad

While I agree with you I'd liek to point out that noone starts XI poutuguese players. I have no problem with a couple foriengers here and there, I just have an issue when Benfica keeps someone as awful as Sidnei to try and develop him and send out Miguel Vitor, who looked much better on the pitch than any time with Sidnei. And don't talk about growing pains because Benfica went thru them with David Luiz, another Brazilian, but won't with Miguel Vitor, who's Portuguese?

you're right nobody starts 11 portuguese, but i'd love to benfica have a mojority portuguese team instead of minority.

I always like Vitor and said he and carricio were portugals future at the back.
