Too early to tell...if I had to guess I'd say 'yes' and I think Adu fanboys are crazy.

Simple answer, no. Peaked too soon. Bought into media-created/fanboy-lovefest image and did not progress and develop into what was expected for him to become - the new and improved LD for USMNT.

If he's really 21 then i think yes. If he's actually 32 right now...then no.

Forcing me to answer today, I'd have to say NO.

But all along I thought Adu might turn into an American Valderamma, who didn't really become a regular international until age 25-30. His game is about slick ball skills and vision, while lacking speed and physicality, just like Pibe. Guys like that are not given the keys to a professional team at age 20. Valderamma needed many years before coaches and teammates trusted him with the only role he really is suited for, the classic #10. So, if I try to stay consistant with that older reasoning, then I should still wait a few more years before passing a final judgement.

The problem with that theory is that Pibe was a gamer, while Adu doesn't seem to have the committment to battle hard for his job. I'm having serious doubts.

Dude needs to come back to the MLS play for DC United as a DP under Bob Bradley to ensure he gets 90min every game. Unless we all pitch in to make that happen.... well it just won't happen. Thus my answer is sadly "No."

Shall we move onto the "Gooch" (Yes or No) thread...

Updated count: 10 yes, 26 no, a few so garbled that I had to rule them as invalid ballots.

    No.

The kid has to answer the "Will he even have a significant club career?" question first.

Yes. Still young enough to improve, and plenty of talent still to work with. The rest is up to him.
