I have seen interviews with him saying that he would like to do it and just read an article in esto.com.mx that briefly mentions that America directors are considering him, among others, as reinforcements for the Liberatadores Cup. That would be very interesting - opinions?

If we can't get a club in, let's get a player in! Sounds like a great idea. I hope it happens.

Last night during the game between Atlas and America the announcers said that Donovan didn't want to play for America. Donovans reason being that he believes that Mexicans don't want American's in their league.

Looks like Donovans first priority is to play in the EPL with Portsmouth. If the loan doesnt come through then i dont think he would mind suiting up to play Copa Libertadores. As fas as the comments on FSWE go i really doubt Lando said that. Many Mexican newspapers have interviewd LD and i have yet to read any negative comments..

Well this was all pending the sale of San Jose Earthquakes to Club America which accoriding to ESPN.deportes. is not going to close. They will on the other hand have some type of Moreila-Fire partnership.

    Sid,

I heard Jacobos comments on FSWE and he just said from an interview, didnt say with who or when which is why i dont take them serious. What i did hear was that LD wouldnt play for CA in the MFL but he wouldnt mind playing the CL with them which is diffrent..

Plus he speaks awesome gringo Spanish.

But if he joined America, they couldn't call him El Gringo because Castro already has that nickname.

I was certain after Jacobo asked LAguna what his source was he was going to say, "I read it on Big Soccer". And you know he did cause his show is sponsored by it.

He wouldn't replace anyone, he would simply be reinforcement for the Libertadores, and would only play for the team in libertadores games.

I'll have to watch the replay cause I wasn't paying to much attention but I thought he said that Landon told him in person.

I get that but someone would have to sit it order for him to play.Either way it was just for the sake of discussion.

Steve Sampson speaks better spanish, he did radio work during the world cup and his spanish was pretty good. He is probably getting a lot of practice at his current job.

Donovan's spanish is far from perfect, but he gets by, he knows when they are talking trash about him on the field.

Steve O was part of Futbol de Primeras (Radio Show) World Cup panelists and he did a damn good job. He is more fluent and can carry out a full conversation/debate..

I have to say for some one just took it as an elective in high school he speaks it pretty well. At least he doesn't do that weird 's' with his mouth while he speaks like Mark Madsen does.

I think Landon pissed away much respect from the Mexican media and fans such as myself.

Well I know Tab and Claudio speak spanish. In fact Tab did the spanish play by play for the all star game. You can throw in Marcelo Balboa as another spanish speaker.

Steve Sampson speaks better Spanish than Bora and Bora has lived in Mexico for years!

I think all of the US Latino players I've heard speak pretty good Spanish. As others have said Donovan speaks broken Spanish, he can make himself understood but it's not great Spanish, in fact during the preolimpico he misunderstood some questions posed to him in Spanish. Nevertheless, he's better now than when I heard him a few years ago so I'm sure he'll continue to improve. It's good to see a non-Latino US player speaking Spanish. I think Ante Razov speaks some Spanish as well, in fact if I'm not mistaken, he's a better speaker of Spanish than Donovan.

Er, that's because mark learned his Spanish at a two-year Mormon mission trip to Spain - it's a classic castillian accent - most everyone in Spain has it.

    Landon's Spanish is Latin American/Spanglish.
