Re: MLS DC United @ New England Revolution 8.07.10 7:30 PM EST Increased energy up top. No real changes in the back.
It sucks to go down a goal, but I think we'll learn something from how this team reacts in the second half.
Re: MLS DC United @ New England Revolution 8.07.10 7:30 PM EST yeah...I was just about to comment about this game going a lot better than the RSL one... but I'm just gonna shut up for now.
I think that was Phelan's first goal ever in MLS. After two seasons, thats not very good for a holding midfielder.
Re: MLS DC United @ New England Revolution 8.07.10 7:30 PM EST Catching up here - add in Khano Smith as well and I'll throw in a buck or two.
Boskovic is an utter waste of space on the field. Last game he had clear-cut chances that he could not put on frame. I guess this week it is an improvement that he has been able to pass the ball to Reis a couple times (wouldn't count his lame header as a shot). He gave up on his mark. And he just made the most head-scratching play to end the half when a great chance was potentially brewing. The worst thing for me ... he absolutely cannot or does not shape a pass. He plays this one-touch, quick pass style and he almost never puts the ball in a good position for the teammate. Absolutely destroys the rhythm of attacking play. He has guys around him (Pontius, Quaranta, Najar) who are positive players and he wastes their runs and movement. Also ... I know he is never going to be a high-energy guy, but it kills me how he w-a-i-t-s for the pass to arrive ... never goes to the ball or cuts inside a fronting marker on a cross that is under-hit. Some of this stuff may come as he gets used to his teammates more, but the body language from him (and others) is not looking promising.
Meh. I don't think he was signed for his defending. The marking on set plays has just been suspect all the time; I sense a lot of residual confusion and indecisiveness throughout the squad.
Yeah, I just looked it up. After contraction and the elimination of the shootout, Red Bulls had the worst season with 21 points. How many games do we have left to make up those points?
So did anyone else point and laugh at the latest DCU commercial with the "push for the play-offs" tag?
That was still when they were playing more games, though, right? Would the pro-rated total (19.6 or something) be more attainable?
Nope, was last year. 30 games. By the way, after tonight we have 11 games left. 11 games to get at least nine points... I'm not confident.
I have a mosquito bite on the bottom of my foot that is more enjoyable than this match.* *Also applies to season.
