Actually, Milner plays winger or outside MF in a 4-4-2. Regardless, he is overpriced, however, he is a talented Englishman playing in his homeland.

He was switched to a box to box midfield role this past season, which is why his career has taken off. He is a pretty mediocre winger.

Yea, it's Ashley Young and Stuart Downing who play on the outside for Villa. But they could use Landon as they basically have no depth at that position.

well we're certainly not letting our allocation spot go for cheap thats for sure. like i said, this is gonna be McBride to Chicago via Toronto....on acid. They are gonna pay for it, and pay big. If not Bowen, then Michael Stephens. He certainly becomes much more of a surplus in this event.

OK. Let's say LD is a full-fledged DP - at 900,000 - from whenever he signed.

He had, at that time, still accomplished more than Freddy has, both internationally and for club.

IMO, Freddy has not accomplished anything to warrant being a DP, not yet.

Course, I wouldn't name Nery Castillo one, either. Or Luis Landin when he was named one. It's really up to the owners and how they want to spend their money.

I just think for the Galaxy, it wouldn't be wise to name Freddy a DP - not with Eddie Lewis there, Berhalter, Donovan. Heck, even Kirovski.

The question is why people are jumping on this rumor with such fervor? At least the Ronaldinho thing has been confirmed as a possibility.

WSR is not an unreliable source. From what I understand it is Costigan who is breaking this rumor, he regularly works with WSR.

He is the same guy who first broke all of these rumors just this offseason:

Ljungberg to Chicago
Kljestan to Anderlecht
And just today, Segares to Chicago
among others over the years

The guy is in the know, and so is this site, its not goal.com or some other bullshit rag.

If this were an unreliable source you'd have a point...but its not.

Wow, Costigan is doing his own career a disservice if he's just handing all these scoops away, rather than finding a way to break them on his own via FSC or even Fox Sports web properties.

I treat all sources as unreliable until I hear it from the horse's mouth (i.e. an agent, an owner, a coach, or the player himself). Besides, interest in a player doesn't necessarily mean that a deal is about to be finalized.

Yes, there has been contact between Dinho and the Galaxy, but nothing yet has happened. Could be the same thing with Adu.

I definitely dont think this is Bruce's work. Adu is not the type of player Bruce likes. This is AEG trying to draw a huge crowd to LA because Becks, LD, and Buddle arent enough apparently.

Personally as a Galaxy fan, I think bringing in Adu is so unnecessary to this team. We have so much depth and it will just push a young good prospect to the bench. Plus with talks of Ronaldinho coming in, Bowen and Stephens will most likely become subs.

The article does not say "interest in", it says, "close to signing". Big difference.

Trust me I understand your skepticism. But people are reacting the way they are for a reason. This is a normally reliable source who has never broken a story like this without being correct about it. I went back and checked their history and didn't see anything.
