Perhaps it is a case of Javier Leon stepping up. It seemed top heavy to me. We dont know the separation of duties previous so its a stretch to assume the new or future arrangement. Of course, the return of PW would more than please the natives.

I'll pile on the 'Good Riddance' bandwagon. That said I'll also jump on the 'Bring back Peter' bandwagon too but...

I honestly believe there's a 'diamond in the rough' candidate that could do more for fan relations in one day than Greeley did in his entire tenure. He may need to finally 'shave' ;) and may not have the professional pedigree background but I know he 'gets it' with season ticket holders from the Harlem End to Club and just about everywhere else.

    My two cents.

In my own humble opinion, Peter should be hired by the league as a consultant on fan relations and supporter issues league-wide, that would be a great fit and could be of real benefit to the sport at this stage.

My shortlist would include Wilt and Burton. Both would have done miles better then Greeley in his tenure.

A Facebook campaign got Betty White as a Saturday Night Live host.

Why not to bring Peter Wilt back?

    Or give Ben a chance.

Either one would be just what the organization needs.

Great idea...if (as is likely) he is not hired back to run the Fire again.

    Chi - ca - go!
Considering the interview is on Crains Chicago Business, I think he's sharp and informative on the business level. It almost seems as if he knows that he's on his way out of the Fire. To be fair, he does mention the Fire in part 3 and 4.

No question, he acted like an ass 10 years ago when he was with the Bears. But if we're never going to forgive and forget ...

I wish him well and thank him for all the good work he's done with the Fire.

I'm a selfish SOB and want to keep Peter to ourselves.

Now, the question is, if offered the job will he accept?

He may like his new life of remaining a full-time cheese head. :)

Oh, and Ben, if you were to get the job, I'd be happy to work as your pointman on hiring Fire cheerleaders.

Out of curiosity, why wouldn't he be offered at least the opportunity?

For my part, his performance on this interview was akin to a broker going on Crains, and citing The Wall Street Journal over and over again, before making a small mention of his current employer. It honestly struck me as odd on his part. Here's a prime opportunity to get your employer some coverage, and he kinda flubbed it, IMO.

I don't get exactly what his qualifications ever were for his position, to tell you the truth. It isn't all that hard to sell the bears in this city; It remains somewhat of a challenge to sell MLS here, though.

Not trying to be a jerk, but EXACTLY WHAT "good work" did Greeley ever do?

While there will always be complainers about a team's FO, if we as ordinary fans can find a shit-ton of things they're doing wrong, it's a problem. Especially if the things they're doing wrong are kind of obvious...

Because it appears that there has been no talk from the Fire about him returning the Fire since he was let go. There have been opportunities for them to make such an offer and, as far as anyone knows, that offer has not been made.

    1) When Guppy turned out to be a bad choice.-2007
    2) When Guppy was let go. early 2008
    3) Prior to hiring Greeley, after Leon was named on an interim basis. There was a gap of time between the dismissal of Guppy (and does anyone really remember when Guppy was here?) and the hiring of Greeley in 2008.

Oh, I understand what you're saying here, but OTOH, nobody had heard much about Greeley leaving, either.

I suppose I'm holding out hope that there would be a match to be made here.

Not that I can see. If anything it seemed like he disliked his own club's fanbase. Maybe he was really good at schmoozing sponsors or something. Then again, if he was really good at that, he would probably still have a job.

Peter seems to be having fun resurrecting the Wave, but now's as good a time as any to light the Wilt-signal!

Christ wouldn't be so good as president, but I'm all for hiring him as our team physician.

So how are things, Peter? Have any calls from any professional soccer team owners in Chicago lately? I mean, that only use males on the team?

What do you think of what the late Lyndon Johnson said, "If nominated, I will not serve"?
