http://worldsoccerreader.com/2010/08/la-galaxy-trade-alan-gordon-to-chivas-usa/ "The LA Galaxy have completed a trade with Chivas USA sending American forward Alan Gordon to their neighbors in exchange for allocation money. Details of the trade were not disclosed as per league and club policy."
There's a whole thread devoted to player transactions here: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1374897
If anyone deserves his own thread, it's Flash Gordon. Gs fan opinion heavily bummed at this move so far. But we'll see what AEG is cooking up.
Chivas already has Braun; why do they need Gordon I wonder? I guess they want some more braun and muscle up top.
Actually Alan Gordan's not very good and if it brings in a DP (which is looking very likely) I'd say it's a very good trade.
How many times has a player been traded to a team in the same stadium (in US, or any, sports)? I believe Eskadarian went the other way last year.
wouldn't be the first time. Ante Jazic. You also have former Galaxy rejects Marcelo Saragosa, Paulo Nagamura, and Michael Umana currently on the Chivas roster. Then you have guys like Laurent Merlin and Bobby Burling who trialed/drafted by the Galaxy but were never offered a contract that walked across the hall and played for Los Goats. This isn't groundbreaking by any stretch.
My first thought on reading this was: "Why would CHIVAS want Alan Gordon? Why would Chivas WANT Alan Gordon? Why would Chivas want ALAN GORDON?" Rep to anyone who gets the reference.
I'm reminded of both Red Dwarf and Hunt for Red October, but I doubt those were the ones you were going for.
Crap, this isn't fair. Just about the time that poor Alan learns that British bloke's name, he shipped out. Conspiracy, I tell ya.
That's a totally meaningless trade. Alan Gordan is a big guy, runs hard, but has about as much scoring touch as a box of buckwheat pancake mix. Chivas USA is doing the Gals a favor by taking over his guaranteed (under the new labor contract) paycheck for the rest of the season. By the way, no trade will ever be as bad as the Rapids trading Kyle Beckerman to Real Salt Lake for Mehdi Ballouchy and a sack of magic beans.
ahh, i see. never really liked seinfeld. sounded close to a scene from "snatch" as for Gordon trade, it takes TIME to develop that "i wont be traded to the rival team" hate.
At least he gets to stay together with that nurse of his since he's not moving out of town. I bet relationships are tough when you are suddenly traded to a team a thousand miles away.
I don't care too much about the minimal impact Gordon will have on Chivas USA. I'd rather this thread devolve into a discussion on when the Galaxy's third DP will arrive now that the allocation cash has been made available (we all should have an idea as to who that DP might be).
