Identical in what ways? Hong Myungbo minimized the involvement of the fullbacks in attacks so that the midfielders didn't need to cover for them. Completely different from Huh Jungmoo's 4-4-2 where the overlapping runs for the fullbacks were encouraged and the sufficient coverage was necessary. I like Gu Jachul far more than Kim Jungwoo as a player, but he wouldn't survive a minute playing with Ki Sungyong (see vs. Japan U23).

I meant that players respect him as a person, which is often hard to gain for foreign players. He's a very thoughtful person and doesn't shy away from giving talks to younger players despite the culture and language barries. But I understand what you mean.

As I've already said, the default formations and defensive shapes of the two sides were vastly different, but Koo Ja-cheol was the only midfielder on Hong Myung-bo's team who managed to provide defensive presence (which is also one of the reasons why that team's defense was below average at best). Moon Ki-han was soft, a lot like Ki Sung-yong.

I've said many times already that I almost always would rate a skilled center-back like Cho Yong-hyung a notch or two above a ball-chasing stopper like Lee Jung-soo.

Ah sorry, guess I missed all those posts. It's too bad that CYH's gonna end up remaining in Asia instead of going over to England...

That's why I was asking... wasn't saying he'd be a realistic 2014 WC option, but he'd be young enough still for the AFC.

    Adi is a beast.

During the days he played at left back, he was never the fastest player on the pitch but you would always see him supporting whoever was playing left wing. And I never recall seeing Adi being beaten by a K-League winger during the games I saw at Sangam.

빙가다 is playing him at DM this year cause FC Seoul is stocked at the wing/wingback positions, but I would think that he would prefer the left wing back position as it enable s him to use his offensive skills.

More like he'll stand (stationary) between the sticks rather than play the man is so f**king disgracefully out of shape. I anticipate a 3-3 scoreline now.

    Nigeria friendly

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/africa/8882297.stm

Injuries and club commitments has forced Nigeria to settle for only 10-foreign based stars for their friendly in South Korea on August 11.
Ikechukwu Uche, John Mikel Obi, Haruna Lukman, and Obinna Nsofor have been replaced by the likes of Obafemi Martins, Kalu Uche ad Dickson Etuhu.

Eguavoen will also have the likes of Joseph Akpala, Solomon Okoronkwo, Danny Shittu, Sam Sodje, Dele Ayenugba, Brown Ideye and Osaze Odemwingie for the match.
Ten local based players are expected to leave for Seoul on August 7, where they will be joined by the Europe-based group.

    Re: Nigeria friendly

Since their not using their "A" team and don't have a permanent coach we should just stick with our Asia-based players. Although I wouldn't mind seeing Suk and Son, I don't want our European WC players to make the long journey.

any news as to who is being considered foreign and domestic? im looking to see Yoo picked along with KBK getting some playing time maybe Gu also.

do you think he will stick with a 4-4-2? or do you think he will try different things like 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. heck id even be happy to try 3-5-2

I expected one of Ji Dong-Won and Yoon Bitgaram but not both!

No Yoo Byung-Soo. What does the poor guy have to do to earn a call-up? But seriously that's a young squad overall.

    Jung Sung-ryong (Seongnam)
    Kim Min-woo (Sagan Tosu/JPN)
    Park Joo-ho (Iwata/JPN)
    Ki Sung-yong (Celtic/SCO)
    Baek Ji-hoon (Suwon)
    Yoon Bit-garam (Gyeongnam)
    Yeom Ki-hun (Suwon)

Cho Kwangrae is a friggin riot lol Seriously? Baek Jihoon? Yoon Bitgaram? Field Ki Sungyong with those two then we can complete a midfield of joggers.
