Everyone played bad. Positioning was horrible.

If this team does anything positive, it's simply due to the talent this squad has. Other then that, you can give Onalfo the selection of Real Madrid and Inter Milan, and we'd still lose to Salt Lake. Positioning was just horrific.

Perkins needs to be riding the bench. I like the dude, and he does have talent, but nobody's going to be playing to their potential w/ Onalfo. Nobody.

he did say in the second half sideline interview that he thought the first goal was offsides.

Onalfo may be a nice guy - but a MLS coach he isn't.

Sooner or later Chang needs to decide how serious of an owner he wants to be.

Clearly the fans are now deciding how seriously they want to support the sorry state of affairs.

That has to be one of the worst displays by ANY DC United team I've watched since 1996. Perkins was abysmal. The defense is disorganized and doesn't have any touch or passing ability, except to wildly clear the ball when it comes near.

The midfield routinely coughs the ball up to which ever opponent's attacking player is nearest. Or backpasses to the GK, if they can't find a defender.

The forwards don't make intelligent runs and NOBODY wins headers! Even if they do, the ball is headed ANYWHERE but where our own players are.

Play Hamid. If I were a defender, I would have zero confidence in Troy.
Play Rice & Greye. They make rookie mistakes, but they are faster and will be potentially better players than Talley and Burch. Besides, this season is down the shitter anyway. Get the kids some experience.

Play all the younger, faster players on offense, and see what they can do. They can't be any worse than the flotsam & jetsam that is out there now.

I've seen more organized play from my sons' U-7 teams, 6-7 years ago.

Are they trying to lose on purpose? Are they throwing the matches now?

    I am disgusted.

I believe you have to have a reasonable opportunity to win a game before you can be accused of trying to throw the game. In other words, DCU lacks the requisite intent and ability to commit the crime of "throwing" a game.

I believe the record for fewest goals score by a team in a season is 25. We have to score 13 in 12 games in order to tie that mark. That's ********ing embarrassing.

I'm glad that I could help someone out. I actually wasn't laughing when I wrote it. This team is shockingly bad. And that's saying something coming from me, because I predicted this team to be at or near the bottom of the East and openly stated here on our boards that I was worried that even Philly would be better than us. Even so, saying and believing every word that I wrote at the time, I still don't think I had grasped the depths of how bad this team could and actually would be.

Sadly, I couldn't agree with you more! I just can't believe what I'm seeing from this team!

I believed it when I said 2, 3 months ago they need to fire the coach and bring in an over-the-hill star to attract fans. Start from scratch. Get a stadium, get a coach, attitude, brand new team.

I was at the Nationals game instead tonite. I suppose this team is as dull as it was at the beginning of the season.

It amazes me how anyone can keep their jobs or positions after this horse sh!t. Yeah I said it. What I saw was no purpose, no reason, lack of deisire...the trifecta lol

Congrats to those that show up. U're stronger than me.

Wrong. Rongen was responsible for some of the worst soccer DC fans had ever seen. It's just sad to see players not know their role of each position. Payne was wrong to allow Rongen to last that long. So far, Onalfo is on a free fall to take second place as DC's worst coach.

I thought PAYNE didn't fire RONGEN because they were buddies. Now it's turning out he's simply not that good of a manager.

    Well, that was fun.

I thought Perkins had broken out of his early-season troubles, but tonight was a major step back. You could argue that he should have saved every goal.

We looked out of touch in the back, and that's not a good thing when your keeper's gone walkabout.

We have a lot of problems to solve, and I'm thinking Curt is not the guy to solve them. I think we have better talent than we're showing.

    Depressing all around.

I knew this game was over the minute Real Salt Lake showed up in their own uniforms. The nerve of some teams. Hopefully New England can be convinced to play with the word TRADITION on the back of a white DCU jersey next weekend.

The last goal was just a good goal. ANy good goal keeper would have come out. Too many lanes open and defensive mistakes.

Players don't know their role for given positions. Arena, and all good coaches at least have back up players know their role. As mentioned before, if this team does or shows anything positive, it's simply due to individual talent of this team, not the style of play. Their is no style w/ this squad. The talent is there, it's just lacking w/ the managers of the team we love.

Seattle comes to mind. The entire city will simultaneously jizz themselves if they get to host the final.

Didn't you read Kevin Payne's recent comments in Goff's blog? The problem is that we fans just don't understand.

I mostly agree. On the first goal, Perkins had a howler; but it was also the worst executed offside trap in history, thanks to Simms and Najar. On the second goal, again, Perkins should have had it; but the opening existed because we'd just subbed out our right back, and Andy Najar didn't adjust to his changed role as the wing midfielder in front of a three-man backline. The third goal I can't fault Perkins on -- it was just well-taken. I will, though, fault Talley for being schooled earlier in the play; sucks in that he was actually having a surprisingly good (for him) match up to that point.

Agree with the first statement -- heck, I agreed with it in December. I suspect we disagree on the talent level, though. I think this is one of the least-talented teams in the league. Although I guess one could argue that that could be true, and yet we're *still* showing less talent than we have.

I don't think attendance has been all that bad this year for MLS games. I could be wrong, but it seems to have stayed more or less consistent with past seasons.

Oh, and don't look now, but this team could be undefeated this season and it still won't get a new stadium in D.C.

The upside is they suck so bad, it might be a hard sell to get some other city to pay the $ it would cost to move them.

Wow. Kinda seems to me like the team has already moved... at least moved on mentally.

I was in a bar watching last night. The bar is owned by great guys, good friends, soccer guys. We watched the World Cup finals there. When the game came on, they moved the TV to DCUnited. I changed into my Olsen jersey. And we watched.

What can I say? I was embarrassed. I have felt so much pride for this team for so many years. Last night I really felt like, well, this shirt makes me look like a chump.

I don't need them to win to be a fan. I don't need them to be great, to be consistent, even to score regularly -- although all are things you hope for. Still, to be that bad all around in all phases of the game. Wow. We've now scored no goals in most of our games, right?

Firing Onalfo won't fix what's wrong with this team, but it's astounding that he's still employed by DCU. In any business, if you had an executive with this record it would be bye-bye time. Hell, they even sacked the head of BP. Are we at a point where literally nobody wants to take the job?

    Incredible. Incredibly bad.
