    Horribly disappointing result.

Kudoes to Juninho who is looking fabulous in the center for us. I love the way he shows for the ball, and makes the intelligent pass. Hang on to that guy, please.

Eddie Lewis started well, but he doesn't have 90 minutes in him, and Bruce left most of his "attacking" options on. It was a mistake to try to run so much through him.

Leonardo looked bad on goals 3 and 4 - 3 for the bad clearance, and 4 for jogging nonchalantly back and not closing that guy. Yes, Saunders also should have done better. Berhalter - WTF on the 2nd goal. On the replay you could see he looked back and chose to leave the goal scorer open rather than covering him. Maybe I don't understand positional defense as well as Gregg does, but I just don't get it. That goal was crucial, too, and I knew we we would have to open ourselves up in the 2nd half to push hard for the comeback.

I'm waiting for Donovan to have a good game since the World Cup ended. He needs to get back into this season or we are in for a slumping spell.

The rest of the league is now wondering how they, too, can beat the Galaxy 4-1!

galaxy fans need to be medicated. a couple a weeks ago everyone was talking about silly things like "going undefeated". one bad loss, and you sound like Seattle fans. get a grip.

Manchester United just got punked by a 10 man Kansas City team - it happens. refunds, "stains on our honor" Christ were you people even around year 2003-2008? that was a dismal time to be a galaxy fan.

Just got home. My brother drove, and I spent the entire ride typing furious notes onto my iphone to post here. Somehow as we pulled into the driveway, I lost all of them. So now this is going to be even more angry and shorter than it would of been.

What the ******** was that?! WOW. That was so poor I can barely put into words its poorness. What the hell happened? We were terrible. We were shit in every facet of the game. It's easy to forget because we were so thoroughly dominated, but that was the Puerto Rico Islanders. THE ********ING ISLANDERS!! From the USL!! Jesus.

Landon- Really quiet. Disinterested? A few nice plays.
AJDLG- Looked lost before getting the early hook
    Berhalter- Uncharacteristically poor.
Gordon- Characteristically poor. Complete and utter shit.
Leonardo- his worst game for us, but not saying too much, since it was like his 5th.
Franklin- Got forward well, but was just off.
Birchall- gave the ball away too much
Lewis- I'm done... I'm just done. Their fourth goal was one of the lowpoints of the season.
Saunders- I guess it's hard to blame the first few goals on him, but maybe Ricketts coulda done better. On the fourth goal we remembered why he doesn't start. Jesus that was a howler from my angle.

Juninho and Buddle were the only of the 11 who i didn't feel turned in a shameful performance. Mikey was a nice spark off the bench. Alex still just isn't good. Bowen is fast and... well, he's fast.

That was one of the worse games I've ever witnessed in person at the HDC, especially because it was so shocking. Only the 3-0 smackdown against Chivas a few years ago was more painful to watch, I think. We were supposed to be the ones winning 3-0, 2-0. A clean sheet was crucial with the away goals rule. We were taking this competition seriously! Landon was talking about the Club World Cup before this game. WOW. ... WOW.

The goal going into this game was to get a result that would allow us to rest the starters in the second match. I guess we were at least ironically successful in that. Now we're out of the CCL and don't have to worry about it clogging up our schedule. That was fun while it lasted. Actually, no. It was not fun.

After the first goal it was surprising. Shocking after the second. Mindblowing after the third, the ridiculous long range hit. Somewhere between the third and fourth goal some "fans" around me loudly (and seemingly happily) tried to start a mexican wave numerous times. I wished I was sitting in the upper deck so I could jump off....

Then the fourth goal happened. Wow. Eddie just stupidly lost the ball, then made no effort to try and get back. He left his man to breakaway into a one on one with Saunders, and then hit a tame shot which Saunders shockingly parried into his own net.

I just don't know what happened. The only thing I can think is that we were unprepared. We didn't take the Islanders seriously enough and were looking ahead. I can't imagine Bruce would let that happen though. And surely the first or second goal would've woken us up?

They just looked like such a better team. Are we sure that wasn't Shalrie Joseph playing CDM for them? And we were just terrible. I don't even know where we go from here. I can't wait to hear some of the players quotes...

I'm not usually one for booing my own team. It's just not me. It seems tacky, and pointless. But tonight I booed at four or five different times. Half time, after the third goal, after the fourth goal (loudly) and at the full time whistle until I was nearly hoarse. It just wasn't good enough. I'm sure the team knows it was terrible, but they need to now that we (the fans) are totally not okay with that kind of performance. I was embarrassed to be wearing a galaxy jersey.

Anything other than being disapointed after our showing would be a sad farce. We showed no willingness to get in this game and do the dirty work. We never went after it and half heartedly attacked. Josh Sounders has, with this one game surrendered all his credibility. We looked smug out there and paid for it. Franklins crosses were horrendous. Buddle al of a sudden became a playmaker. Time for Gordon to pack it up and go play for a better team like the Islanders. Except for The open net that was sounders that was our starting squad. Its not all over but we are going to have to show much more ability and desire than the pathetic show they had today. The one good thing is i didn't waste time or money to contribute to this pathetic showing. Last time I was there for a Concacaf game I yelled so loud at Steve Sampson that he looked right at me with a dirty look. ******** him, and ******** the team today. Hopefully we grow some and realize if you wanna be a big team you show up for every game.

If teams schedules weren't so over-clocked there wouldn't be such thin rosters, and there'd be more incentive to do well in CCL, Superliga, US Open, etc.

Guys, even in the UEFA Champions League backup goalkeepers start. This is sometimes their only time to start. Saunders is a competent keeper and this was a prelim round game. Didn't Timmy Howard start a Champions League game for United? (and consequently got booted from the squad!). This happens all the time. The bottom line is for whatever reason, the team was not up to it today.

But don't tell me that Saunders in goal was a sign, because that is BS. Bruce should not have to treat every round like a final, but the players he puts out there have to give a darn.

We lost out of Open Cup, not in the super liga. Last game was on thursday. This was a team that outplayed us.

I have to agree with you 100%. And he should fall on his sword if we don't make it in. I'm sick of mediocrity. No, I did not go to this one because I'm saving my points for the group stage. I really wanted this for my sanity. I am a long time Galaxy and MLS fan and I deserve much better. Like I said earlier, this hurts!

Just was able to watch the highlights, and Saunders really isn't at fault for any of the goals, but its seems like Ricketts could have saved the second and fourth. HORRIBLE marking on their first goal. That was complete bull.

In all, PR took ALL of their chances. They had 5 shots, we had 23. It's a sign of poor motivation to be sure, but even with poor motivation, this result doesn't happen 99 times out of 100. Its extremely demoralizing to play a game and dominate and concede, and when it happens twice, three times, it becomes harder and harder. Its not exactly "bad luck" (you create your own luck) but really its unfortunate.

I believe we CAN go into PR and get a 4-0 (or better) result. We just need to finish a goal early and I can see a motivated team just steam rolling PR.

Taking this way too lightly. Just like Bruce and the boys did.

And aside from a couple of random people who I've almost never seen post here before, no one is behaving like Seattle fans. That's just gratuitously insulting to the rest of us, dash. You need to get a grip. Our team played like shit and we deserve to be pissed and to name names.

Not really. Gonzalez, Ricketts, and Dunivant have played every MLS game they've been available for, and didn't play. Thats 3/5 of our defense. Plus, Gordon is only a bit player. It's at best an A- squad, but one that SHOULD have handled any USL side.

MLS CUP is nothing compared to Champion League Cup! you need to understand that, true soccer fan will value Champion League Cup alot more than MLS Cup. MLS cup is important only because it is berth to Champion Leauge.

I'll wrap up what happend tonight.

That had to be the worst loss in franchise history.

In the most important game of the year we have our backup goalkeeper in, the best centerback in the league resting for the All-Star game and another Elite-MLS defender on the bench.

We were the only MLS team that had a shot at winning the tournament so now we not only effed up ourselves but the rest of the league as well.

No Champions league for us could maybe propel Donovan into leaving because he's already won MLS Cup twice so what does he really need to play for here.

Tim Howard was the #1 keeper for united at the time (I think you are referring to the Porto Game?) so that is a bad example. fyi.
