I have a wild idea for the FO. How about lowering the GA tix prices to $10 each or having a two for one specials for these type of games to get more people out to these games? Seriously, I think the pricing of the tix were a bit high for a game against what was suppose to be USL type competition. Unacceptable on many levels!

At least we'll have no fear of fixture congestion later on in the season.

Agreed. We shouldn't even worry about an MLS cup right. We need to worry about righting the ship.

Galaxy have allowed 12 goals in their last 6 matches!!!

You are not a Galaxy fan, so WTF do I care what you think? Plastic fans will never understand, but the MLS Cup is the the most intoxicating ambrosia

It was kind of a joke so I could say the players didn't show up just like the fans.
You obviously care. You're on BigSoccer commenting. It's just too bad fans and MLS don't take this competition more seriously. 5,000-10,000 fans would've been fine.

I am no Galaxy fan by any means, but in the CCL I will support every MLS team over any foreign team. I am disappointed, just like all of you.

I think if we do somehow make it to the next round, the tickets should all be free. First 27,000 callers. Seriously.

Fine, whatever $5 to cover their costs. They'll still rape everybody for parking.

prof, you are one of my favorite posters, but this casual attitude about the loss infuriates me. MLS in general, and particularly the Galaxy who have lofty ambitions on a global scale,. must at some point take actions that express a seriousness about international competition. Yes, we are in a mickey mouse confederation run by crooks. But the door to the big stage goes through that wasteland. People must be held accountable for what went down today. There was nothing flukey about it, it was a profound and systematic failure and it must be dealt with through ruthlessly identifying and rectifying the MANY things that went wrong. If Bruce is going to give lip service to CCL and then tank it, he must be fired on the spot, because that is not what the stated mission of the Galaxy is, and it is not acceptable to the fans. The Galaxy deserve a coach who share's the organization's ambitions.

Dude. More appearances like this in international competitions and an MLS cup won't mean shit. If LA get knocked out by PR and go on to win the MLS cup then that basically proves all the haters right.

i was considering going to this game. i was REALLY looking forward to it. but the 75 bucks per ticket put me off so i decided to watch it on TV. Boy am I glad i didn't spend the 160 bucks two tickets would have cost for that. it was god-awful to watch on TV.
    just awful on every account.

Man, my condolences. I knew PR was tough, but wow. But on the bright side, if there's one team that's got the firepower to come back from a 3 goal aggregate defecit, it's LA. All is not lost. I've seen crazier things happen in this sport.

This has got to be the worst loss by a MLS side against a lower division team in a meaningful competition.

Absolutely unbelievable.... If I know Arena, I would think some player heads will roll as a result of this.

You need to re-read my post, I didn't say Galaxy fan's shouldn't ask for some sort of apology, the original poster said all "MLS" fans deserve it.

This loss is embarrassing, but really, the players played hard and kept working until it became 3-0, then there was some definite give up but Arena isn't a miracle worker and trying to keep a team motivated who just gave up 3 away goals I can live with that.

I think the better argument would simply be that we should have started a true starting 11. I honestly think with no Lewis at left back, and throwing rickets in goal we don't lose that game 4-1, but then again hindsight is 20-20. Honestly the line-up we started the game with defensively shouldn't give up 4 goals, they shouldn't even give up 2 goals against a sit back and defend team who was obviously playing for a draw at the start of the game. Saunders gave up rebounds, lewis didn't react quick enough on the first goal, on the second once again, poor marking and a ball I think Saunders should save (or at least parry, but it's arguable).

I guess my whole point is, while the end result is embarrassing, we didn't really give up, or start an incredibly weak team, we just had one of those WTF type games (similar to FCD scoring 5 or 6 on us last year) where everything the other team turns to gold, and we can't seem to buy a break.

It'd be the craziest thing since Liverpool coming back 3-0 in the 2nd half to beat AC Milan in the CL.

Shame and disapointment. What more can you say?

The team as a whole had no life. Several individual players had performances that were complete and total embarassments. The PR team played very very well. And it adds up to a deserved heavy loss.

    Individually:

    My shit list:

    Saunders - terrible game.
Lewis - Awful game. Second best all night long. Couldn't shoot or pass. Criminally at fault on the 4th goal.
Leonardo: Couldn't pass, mark, or defend. Passed the ball right to the PR player on the 3rd goal
AJ - deserved to be first one yanked. Had no ideas in possession
Gordon/Buddle - Can't play together. Completely redundant (except that Gordon is far worse a player)
Donovan/Buddle -both looked to me like they were saving energy for tomorrow night.
Arena - this was that game where every decision a manager makes proves to be the wrong one.

did I mention that Lewis was shit?

Galaxy FO - You reap what you sow. Your pricing of tickets since 2007 in order to fleece the plastic fan is what has lead to this period of soft ticket demand. The plastic fans are gone and the real fans know that this product, as much as we love it, is not worth the prices you are charging. Looking around the stadium tonight was a real visual reminder of the declining fan base of our beloved team.

The was a performance for the ages, in the worst way possible. We don't need a refund, but our organization and players should apologize to the rest of MLS for letting them down.

I believe the Revs lost pretty bad to Joe Public a couple of years ago. The Islander have been the best non-Mexican team since the start of the CCL.

Or we blew a 4-0 lead to San Jose in the playoffs, that was the ultimate gut punch as a Galaxy fan....

Fukc, the haters.. they are always going to hate, so why worry about what they are going to say. CCL is nice but first thing first. Keep your eyes on what is important. MLS Cup.. it's better than crack

I don't get it, how did Bruce tank it? This was a line up full of players who see regular minutes for the Galaxy. If this line up had rolled our against San Jose I wouldn't have blinked once. It's not like Brian Jordan was starting. Sure I'm surprised that Ricketts didn't start but until tonight, Saunders has been great in a Galaxy uniform.

I was disgusted by today's game. What a waste of time and money to watch that disgrace on the field. When our cheering sections weren't going, I think I literally heard some crickets in the stadium...that's how empty it was.
