Interesting. Their website implies that all of their midfielders and forwards are available and they're playing their strongest side.

Which means that we might be seeing a three man central midfield this season with McCulloch the lone defensive mid and Edu and Davis playing in front of him as dual two-way CMs.

Goal, Edu! Looked like Jordan jumping over the defender. Great start to preseason.

Inching closer to becoming a regular starter.

Provided he stays healthy, I think it's a pretty safe bet that Edu will become a fixture in the Rangers midfield this season.

Two brilliant passes from Edu. He seems like the only Ranger using 'economy of motion.' I.E. He's not overexerting himself, yet he's playing really well. His touches are spot on, and he brings a calmness to the game. By far the best player of the game so far.

EDIT: He's getting tons of props from the announcers.

Halftime and Rangers up 2-0. Edu has looked very solid so far. His passing especially looks good, he brings a bit of calm to the midfield for Rangers.

Yes, he does. And because it's late, I'm going to go off topic a bit here. Watching Maurice tonight makes me question again why Rico Clark was starting against Ghana a few weeks ago...

And Miller smashes it onto the crossbar and out of play.

Commentators saying Edu has been "super impressive" today.

I think what I've been most impressed with so far is the ability he's shown to play out of pressure and maneuver out of tight spaces.

    Dunn scores 2-1.

Edu was through on goal and knocked down by the Blackburn defender, winning the previous Rangers PK.

I am a huge Edu fan-I have been saying for some time (and getting neg repped) that I would not assume Jones is better than Mo even when he is healthy. For me Edu COULD be the best USA player of all time. He has the skill, the physical tools and a great head for the game.
As to the WC, I was disappointed that Mo did not start but hindsight is 20-20 and Rico is a good player too.
From this time forward, we Go with Mo!

And I gotta believe that having the whole world -- and I mean EVERYONE, even Rico Clark's Mama -- saying "Why didn't Edu start" has to be a confidence-building silver lining to the grey cloud of that loss.

It looks like Edu was playing a more balanced midfield role alongside Davis rather than playing DM. McCulloch was the holding midfielder. Also, he's now wearing #7 and Bougherra is wearing #2.

its a huge confidence boost for Edu, and absolutely incapacitating for Clark. Hes going to need to do ALOT to get back into a meaningful match. Then again, if Beasley can get up after he fell, so can Clark.

Edu is just beast, that he wasnt starting against Ghana is going to make me and im sure many other USMNT fans be tormented at night that he wasnt started that game.

If Edu stays healthy this season, I believe Rangers will get some serious cash for him in 2011.
