Your spanish is undoubtedly better than mine, can you explain a little more what the problem is? Are Barca asking for too much of a transfer fee?

I'm curious too because it just seemed so much like the Marquez thing was a matter of time.

Everything is right on schedule because Backe has kept up that he's confident it will be done in another week or so.

To me, that simply means they came together on an agreement with Marquez and now it is a matter of hashing everything out with Barcelona. Barcelona may try to play a bit of hardball with either Marquez or the RBs, but either way, I think they will cave and it's just a matter of time. No team wants bad blood or distraction around their franchise.

    Re: Marquez Rumors

I wonder if the announcers know something that we don't know, because I can't find it in print. Barca have said that they're happy to let Rafa and Henry move on. There won't be a transfer fee, because Barca want to save the money on wages. Undoubtedly, there's some kinks to work out, but I haven't heard any reliable source say that the deal is somehow threatened.

    Agree.

Plus I keep going back to Backe's quotes on this whole thing and it just seems like everything's on schedule. As of yesterday (perhaps even today) Backe kept pointing towards that 7 to 10 days time-frame. All the while still expressing confidence that it was only a matter of time.

If something bad had happened prior to his quotes, he certainly would have been backpedaling somewhat.

I mean, the words have come straight from Pep's mouth that Marquez doesn't have a spot on next year's team... what could possibly hold up the transfer? Is there a mystery team offering an absurd amount of money?

    Re: Marquez Rumors

On the game on ESPN they say that thing get complicated and that the 50/50 now was more than a 80/20 against of Marquez geting his free transfer and that they will give more information after the game....

    Re: Marquez Rumors

And where did they come up with those percentages? It would go against everything that Backe and Pep have said. I expect journalists to say bs, but usually the coaches are on target.

We all knew that there'd be some kinks to work out. That's probably all it is. But Backe's confidence suggests that this thing is on track.

Watcing the Bulls tonight, you can only think that Rafa will improve the squad.

I've heard so many overwhelmingly positive developments concerning this prospective transfer that I'll believe negative news when I hear it from several credible sources.

Lindpere looked awesome tongiht, and Henry gave him props after the match. I don't think you need Freddie L.

Lindpere is woefully underrated by RB fans. People are up in arms about Tchani and Garcia not getting enough minutes but nobody seems to want to give credit to one of the driving forces behind our attack this season.

    Re: Marquez Rumors

The Red Bulls appear to be in the midst of a massive turnout, which means that a lot of the guys are gonna have to sit or move on. With Henry, Rafa, another midfielder, and possibly Trezeguet arriving over the next year, the Red Bulls will start to look like a totally different team.

Remmeber last season? It now seems like a million years ago.

I agree with you on all counts. If you ask me, he is the single biggest reason for this team's turn around!

    Re: Marquez Rumors

Well, his name disappear from the papers, only sport.es have a article from yesterday before the news that his transfer has been complicated, they don't say what was the complication, I don't follow the news, the only we know is that the president of Barca say last Monday he has the door open to go, and that next Monday the 26, they will sign all the respective papers, ...who knows...

    Re: Marquez Rumors

I didn't see anything yesterday suggesting that the deal had hit an impasse. This is the article that appears this morning on sport.es, and here is the google translation

    A (googley) translation:
I feel comfortable guessing that this deal will happen.

goal.com also had an "exclusive" story last summer that Villa had 100% definitely joined Barcelona... I still think this deal will go through but they aren't the most reliable source.
