i beleive you guys are getting someone big. Most likely Ronaldinho. So looking forward to see you guys in August at Red Bull Arena.
I can't wrap around my head on some of the rumors. Ronaldinho? Riquelme? Possibly one, possible none, possibly BOTH?
Here is my concern: what would Ronaldinho's motivation be for coming here? Besides the almighty dollar I mean. He's 30 which is a little young for MLS imports. He is still playing at a high level. Can we really expect him to play here multiple years? Or does he just come here for a couple of years and then retire to Brazil? It's just all a bit confusing to me. I really think that he will upset the balance in this team. He's almost to big of a star, if you know what I mean. I am still holding out for Raul.
"Flamengo desiste de fichar a Ronaldinho" "Flamengo will pass on Ronaldinho" http://espndeportes.espn.go.com/news/story?id=1061850&s=bra&type=story
the guy's won just about everything there is to win. I think coming to MLS and turning this league on its head could be intriguing for him as well as a new challenge. I wouldn't be surprised honestly.
Ronaldinho & his Agent (Brother) will meet w/AC Milan Mgmt this Monday to see if he extends or leaves. Per Sportmediaset, Milan are ready to offer him a 2 yr extension, but w/50% Salary cut. From -> €8m/yr NET + % of Image Rights. To -> €4m/yr NET + % of Image Rights. Current Contract w/Milan expires June 30, 2011 and he can leave for Free on Jan 1, 2011 ...
ok here's the plan. Landon goes to AC Milan in exchange for a Gooch loan and Ronaldinho. Hey, it's possible
Are we really going to pay him 4 Million Euros plus a transfer fee? I'm against this anyway. Next year we can't have Beckham, Ronaldinho, Donovan and Buddle all on the roster, which means that Buddle goes. We are going to be maxed out on the salary cap and have to play Alan Gordon as our center forward. We can afford one "show pony / playmaker " at a time. As Enigma says, trade Beckham to Milan for Ronaldino.
Not necessarily. And who is "we"? AEG is going to pay because they have a plan to make it back, c'mon they have money for a reason. Bruce will have some work to do. Lewis, I believe is retiring. That's 99k right there. Kovalenko has been in Birchall's shadow since his injury. So, it becomes Kovalenko vs. Kirovski (can't believe I'm typing this), Kirovski is far more versatile & healthy & cheap (144k vs. 84k). So far, bye Lewis(99k) and Kovalenko(144k). Magee. He has scored some clutch goals, but is he has reliable as Buddle? No Does he have has much pace or upside as Bowen? No So bye Magee (96k). So far, that is 339k in cap money. Let's continue. Cazumba. No need to discuss that into any great detail.(80k) Mathis. Again no need to discuss that into any great detail. (120k) That is 539k in cap money (through various procedures, i.e. trade, retirement, waive) which can be opened up. Enough to give Buddle a raise, and fit in the 3rd DP. Each DP counts 335k towards the cap. Not to forget, there will be a 5% increase in the salary cap next year (and every year after until the end of the CBA agreement, 2014). These are just some of the possibilities. P.S. What the heck am I doing, typing this at 10pm on a Saturday night? http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/grant_wahl/04/01/wahl.mlsdps/index.html http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2010/03/mls-announces-details-of-cba.html
Plus Beckham's contract ends next year. So if he isn't resigned, then more money for the team in 2012.
apparently AC Milan want 10 million for Ronnie. I don't think even Leiweike would take that offer unless Donovan goes, because then you also have to pay the huge salary.
It seems that Beckham is also pushing for the Galaxy to sign Ronaldinho. This could be a key factor for this deal to actually get completed. "The MLS? We met many people in the USA and for sure Beckham is pressing for 'Dinho to move there soon." Link: http://www.espnstar.com/football/serie-a/news/detail/item468342/Beckham-wants-Ronnie-reunion-/
Half season DPs only cost 167.5k not 335k which is for a full season. The English part timer for example has that caphit this year, since he was/is technically on loan with Milan till now (summer transfer window).
What if we brought in Dinho for this season, put Beckham on the IR, loan Beckham out for the first half of next year, let Dinho stay, and loan Dinho out to another team for the second half of next year when Beckham comes back. That way we always have a DP, but always at half the cap hit.
This isn't a serious suggestion, right? It's just too crazy. That makes us look like some sort of used car dealership. It would be very unprofessional and would just seem ridiculous. Not to mention that by having different players for different parts of the season we'd have major problems with team chemistry and on the field familiarity.
Considering what we've done with Beckham, I don't see it far from the realm of possibility. Hell, what if we brought in four DPs? Each could play quarter of a season at a quarter of the cap hit. Beckham, Ronaldinho, Fat(ter) Ronaldo, and Raul. We could loan them out to the Hollywood United Hitmen.
