why is it almost every team in the league sends their substitutes to warm up together behind the goals every game. i don't understand what purpose it serves.
Or, more to the point, what do other teams in other leagues around the world do that makes the original poster so envious of those teams on this extremely small area of supposed contention?
i never said it was bad and that i wished that they would do things differently. i just asked what purpose it serves. why does everything have to be a debate around here? nothing in my original post smacked of contention.
I agree with the original poster. Why all work out together? One player should wait on the hot dog line while another player waits on the beer line. It's just a lot more practical.

i believe its to obfuscate which sub will actually be taking the field, so as not to tip strategy to the opposition.
It serves for a couple things. Most of the time Coaches make substitutions around the same time, they have everyone warm up so when it's time they can have whoever they choose ready to go. The other reason is it puts preassure on all the players on the field becuase they dont know who is getting subbed off. I actually heard coaches say this in a couple of interviews.
