See some of the previous posts. The fact is no one really knows but I think we only get a pro rated share of his actual salary back and not the transfer fee amount that was wrapped in the total. So maybe like 60K or so. CC insinuated that we used it on Obodai.

I like Mullan and I hope he sticks around but at some point you have to move on from the aging players if you expect to maintain a certain level of play. We are in the position we are now because we picked up older players that were quick fixes, some that just didn't pan out and lost our young talented guys to Europe. If we want to get back to being a dominant team we need to start thinking about moving some of the older guys with value (Mullan, Davis, Ching) for young guys that can contribute for much longer and even develop into stars. I think Dom also needs to start taking the draft a little more seriously. If he can find Cameron and Cruz in later rounds, why can't he find players that are just as good or better in early rounds? Or atleast we could trade those early picks for young guys that would help keep us on top long term.

Yeah, Bosse originally heard about it at the first game of the season. He was waiting for more confirmation which he got.

It sounded more like a wife/kids thing than soccer related.

We were just talking about that, I think his wife is a teacher and she probably has signed a contract for next year, unless this has been in the works for a while.

This is the real reason for the Dynamo player & coach exodus

Best wishes in all that ya do Spencer! Ya Weegie Man!

Hate to even THINK about a Mullan exit. I always invisioned him running himself to death, thus dying on the field and us burying him under our Stadium.

Landin, damn it dude, you ate your share of Houston Tex-Mex but forgot to bring your best Mex to the Rob's cement Tex! What happened voludo?

Could it be that we go to a similar formation that the USMNT was using in WC? Obadai and Palmer as DMs to support a slagging back line, until the offseason when we can get some help back there. If we got Clarke or Lawretowitz for Mullan, I would take it.

Edit: I think Cameron should move back to CB next to Boswell next year, and does Onstad retire at the end of this year?

Long time no post for me (too busy moving from Nola and opening a restaurant in Galveston to participate) as I saw no reason to respond to the mediocrity that is our team at this moment.

Concerning Landin: Too bad he did not work out, but if there is any scapegoating, which I have not seen so far, he is by far not the only one to blame for the crap that is Dynamo futbol at the moment.

We stink, simple as that. If this helps us move forward and somehow "wakes him up", then awesome. It does not mean he is a bad person, it just means that where we are at this moment does not include him in the future. C'est la vie.

OMG we suck. Here's to the future and let the young boys play (I make no apologies for being an Arsenal fan!!!!).

Mullan: Long term we lose ultimately nothing.

Best of luck to all who have cashed in their dynamo chips. The first to abandon ship are women, children, and rats. Captains stay to the end. :D

Long Live Kinnear!!! You will be a good coach Spencer!! And we'll miss you!

    Dale Dale Dale Dynamo!!!!!

Possibly Laurentwicz since he could plug into the back line or play D mid but I think it is Colin Clarke because he is not having a good year.

this trade would suck. but if it has been in the works all season, glad we would get some needed help.
and if its Laurentwicz, I had hoped the Dynamo went after him since he was a free agent.

If this comes to pass, Laurentiwicz would be the guy I would like back from Colorado, but I almost can't see them trading him.

Also, I would find it kind of odd to trade Mullan to a team in our conference we would be chasing.

But these kinds of trades where a player wants to go to one specific place per his wishes (and I am just taking that from previous posts here, no idea how much substance there is to this) really guts Dom's ability to get much value back in return unless the other team REALLY wants the guy.

At least it would be somewhere else than the usual San Jose swap meet, but we are chasing them as well....

Is Clark a LW or a RW? Cause if he's a LW we already have a couple players there, Ashe and Davis.

Same basic thought on Larentowicz. Isn't Obodai a d-mid? Plus Palmer, plus Mulrooney. We'd be piling up d-mids. What we need is playmaking.

We could of course trade or release some of the other players at these positions. But that sort of thinking is going to be more like chess with this offseason coming. You want some players around come November who can be placed in the expansion draft and lost without many tears shed.

Both players are not cheap and I think we'd be better off getting two cheap midfield bodies in camp than picking up a name player, unless it's someone we have long term plans for. The more salary we acquire in one player the harder it is to play around with the cap next year and after that.

I think we will get defensive help elsewhere. I also do not think the CO trade is going to work out - of course I could be wrong. I would guess we try to plug holes with any moves this year (unless a great developmental talent showed) and look to the offseason to make large moves. I would be surprised if we see another middie come in unless it is young talent.

There are deals in the works for a defender and a mid. In at least one trade we give up a current defender in the deal.

Interesting season to come for my family. Timbers has been our "other" team for years. My dad was raised in Portland and I spent summers there as a kid. I transferred my love of the team on to my youngest and he has kept a Timbers jersey in his collection since he was very young. Over time he has made friends with the team and so...we wait to see what John has planned.
