No problem obviously if anyone wants to change their team name. Waiting on info regarding who FCYankees is. But I've sent you all a PM which is hopefully why you're reading this now. The FPL opens for business on Monday. So we need to get our heads together and decide when we want the draft to start. Open communication early doors from everyone should help us get it set up pretty quickly with the minimum of fuss. Me? I'm easy. Anytime suits me. (I'll still make a pigs ear of it anyway...) How is everyone else situated?

Yeah, I'm FC Yankees I'm good for the draft anytime. Preferrably it'll be a Friday or a Saturday, but I'll be good to go during weekdays as well.
Nice one. You'll find that our draft will possibly take a little longer to complete. We have people such as myself and Teso in the UK so the time differences can make things a little trickier at times. But as long as everyone gets their input in quickly then we can start the ball rolling.
You called? I'm doing my usual and working across Scotland so I will be doing most of this from my smartphone. As for times I am easy.
Haha, right I'm in the process of setting up my draft times for the ~5 NFL leagues I'm in, so I'm pretty used of saying "Fridays or Saturdays work best for me" No problem then - we can start whenever.
Fraser - I didn't get your PM. Maybe it went to another Magoo ... possibly a distant relative. FYI, I'll be changing my team name. The new name is can not be divulged right now since I am waiting for various countries' FA chiefs to solidify bids to bring in my squad. You will be notified upon finalization of the process. I have no preference for beginning the draft as long as it gives us plenty of time before the start of the season.

I never had a sniff of the top of the league last year. My drafting ability was exemplified when I picked Anelka in round 1. I'll meet you near the bottom.
Hey all, I will be out of the country July 24th - August 3rd. For me, a draft before or after that would be best, but I know that is inconvenient. I won't have steady internet access during that time. If it is too difficult, I can bow out.
Sam Cole here. Sorry about the delay. I just got married and am leaving on my honeymoon tomorrow. No way I could make a draft in the next 2 weeks. I am back on the 23rd so we could do it then if we want to fit it in before Wendys leave the country. Thanks for including me. Oh, team name will be Ajax Chicago.
Hmm... Still waiting for another couple to give their preferences but the timing associated with the above two entries is worrying. There is no way we'll get the draft done in two days. When does the new season start? Might be best to wait until Wendy's return on the 3rd August, if that gives us enough time. Oh, and congratulations Sam.
The season starts on August 14th. Could start the draft on August 4th and finish by the 10th. A couple of possibilities. Draft time slots or time limits. Or based on time zones a order is set up like seats on a poker table and the winner of the lottery is the starting point. Last option is for someone to proxy. However, Wendy's and Sam Cole are both new and I don't think proxies would work.
Thanks Fraser! I'm pretty sure the league starts 14 August, at least that's what Yahoo tells me. And starting on the 3rd works for me.
We'll see how everyone else is with it but I think this will be the best option and 10 days should be enough time to get through it. Now get the hell out of here and well, you know what to do...
I you all wanted to start a bit earlier than the 3rd, I'd be happy to compile a list that would at least get me through the first couple of rounds. I could give it to one of the managers in one of the other divisions. Then we could be on round 3 or so by the time I return. If you are willing to wait, I'm obviously great with that too. Being a rookie here, I have a lot to learn about the players.
We still have two other managers to give their views on the thread but myself, Teso, Chris and Footy Magoo have all stated that we can start anytime. If the other two are in agreement then I think we can hold until both yourself and Sam are available. It would be tough going to miss out on a part of the draft and especially the early rounds at that. It would just mean that when we do get the ball rolling we'll need to keep it running smoothly. As long as we do that I'd imagine we'd have it finished with time to spare.
I am unavailable from the 22nd through Aug 9. The only thing i can think of is starting the draft now and then sending a proxy list for others to pick since so many people will be MIA.
I don't think that will work. Hal/Blech/tarvinodos provide a spreadsheet with last years stats and also set up spreadsheets for each draft. I don't really recall last year's timing, but it seems like those were available around 7/20 and the draft takes a week or so.
Just waiting on Morrison8312 to check in to see if he has any times he's unavailable but as it stands at the minute we have three managers who will be unavailable for a period of time over the next few weeks and four who are ready to go whenever. The three managers with time restraints are - Wendys - unavailable from 24th July-3rd August Sam Cole - unavailable from 13th July-23rd July tomvandamn - unavailable from 22nd July-9th August Sam is now on honeymoon so we clearly cannot start the draft until at least the 24th July as he's unavailable and wont even be able to proxy in choices. I mean, do we really want him divorced while still on honeymoon...? But by the time he returns tom and Wendys will be unavailable also. Wendy's return would have given us time I believe to complete the draft but obviously tom's wont. So we've got a bit of an issue here. And we still need Morrison's input before before we come to a solid decision. I'm open to ideas.
Last year we started early for Von Damm and Lobo was proxy for all of Eddie's picks. I think that Sam Cole if contacted has to have FC St. Pauli do his proxies for the first few rounds. I think a fifty-fifty - Start the 17th of July - someone does the first 5 rounds as proxy for Wendy's Round 6 starts on July 24th so that Sam Cole can finish his picks and some becomes Tom Van Damms proxy. If this does not work. We will need to switch a manager.
tarv, Sam is now on his honeymoon. Now don't get me wrong, I like the Rocks leagues. They're great fun throughout the season but if I were on my honeymoon and someone tried to get in touch with me to ask me for a list of proxy's I'd give them short shrift. And besides, we still have no contact from Morrison8312. He also, may have time issues.
