Netherlands our whipping boys over the past 10 years are in the finals, for the third time mind you.

Spain, our rival are in their first ever final, off the back of an euro cup victory and beat us with an offside goal.

one of them will win their first WC well we dont even have 1 lousy euro cup to our name

any suggesstions on how we should cope with this depression?

its ok Liga Sagres starts august 15th

    but im a Sporting fan:(

    oh well

    forca Portugal forever

    2012, 2014 is ours!

Well, if Holland chokes, then they have choked 3 times in the WC Final. That's a dubious distinction...always the bridesmaid, never the bride.

And Germany hasn't won since 1990, despite choking at the semis for 2 consecutive cups, and choking at the finals in 2002. Sure, they have some cups, but lately they've been pretty big time chokers.

    lol true

I also think netherlands will choke again

seriously when spain want to play, you cant get the ball off them so I dont see how netherlands will be any different

I think Spain will win 2-0.

On a happy side note, we did show that we can play with the best in the world, and if anything we should be happy for our neighbours mind im sure mainlanders wanna choke me, it just shows that even after a dissapointing world cup, were still in the mix, and maybe if we had more depth and maybe some luck, who woulda known.

I am happy for Spain, I guess you could say they were eventually going to make the final. if holland and spain can make the finals im sure one day Portugal can do it too... just neeed to keep qualifying and putting in consistent performances weve come a long way over the years.

Nothing to be depressed about, Spain and the Netherlands are nasty. They have 2 really good TEAMS. It should be a great final, and a new winner will be crowned.

Could be us guys, i watched Germany, and we offered more danger to the spanish team than they. We should be proud, an offside goal could cost us a spot in the final.

Spain has reached their peak in this world cup, in 2006 the players were younger, in 2014 maybe too old.

Probably 2014 will be our peak.

We can reach the final in 4 years, with a better team, with new youngsters, with Ronaldo after being coached by Mourinho and being a dad, he will be more mature in 4 years. We will also have a fantastic defence with Bosingwa and Carriço and Nani to help out Ronaldo.
Just hope, some young player can reach a good level as striker.
Imagine in 4 years, if they all reach their potential.

    Bosingwa-----Bruno Alves-----Carriço-----Coentrão

    ---------------------Pepe------------------------

    Ronaldo-------------------------------------Nani

Not really dude, all we did was defend.
We weren't good enough, and our manager didn't give us a chance to win.
Germany overall deserved to lose, but had that PK been called at the end of the 1st half Spain would be playing for 3rd.

Yes, in the most of the first half i agree, we should thanks Eduardo, but at the end of the first half and beginning of the second we had 2 chances with Hugo Almeida and one with Tiago with a Coentrão run. If we scored, Spain probably would have collapsed in our defence. (More than Germany did in the entire game).

The problem is that dunno why Queiroz took off Hugo Almeida when he was our most dangerous guy. With that and after the goal we collapsed and hardly had any chance.

Ozil? Hardly a PK. His touch let him down, the ball was trailing him and he clearly was looking for compensation. He made the decision to go down once he lost ball possession. No penalty. Good call.

The foul against Klose was a clear FK. Spain have only been carded once in thee group stage, rarely get the bad calls. Smells fishy to me.

Z-Man, drink a colt 45, I'll remind you that soccer is only a game and that you need a TEAM to win a title.

    OMG!

If those two kids become star players, watch out! Look for Diogo Salomao, he just might be a quality player, at 21, Sporting might give him a shot.

He got kicked by Ramos in the back of his left leg. It was a pk. Watch the zoomed in replay. The ref just didn't have the guts or didn't see it.

Figures, both teams that I didn't want to win are in the finals. At least we know that one won't win.

Who am I kidding, the loser will probably win the next world cup and we'll have two more teams ahead of us on the trophy list.

We're never gonna win. I hear a fado in the background.....

It def was a PK. I was watching the game with a friend who doesn't really understand soccer and he was like "so the guy from Spain can just kick him in the back of the leg because it looks like he's going for the ball...?" Ozil messed up with his touch, tried to turn to sheild the ball and got hacked in the back of the leg...shoulda been a PK. Also Schewinsteger should have gotten a FK right outside the box around the 80th minute.

    story of the tournament

refs have been carrying Spain all the way to the finals

ffs Portugal in 2006 would have won it easily if we had that sort of officiating:rolleyes:

Bribing is how Greece won in '04. But it broke their bank and look at them now.

Your like the dumb ESPN commentators saying that yes he was knocked, but Spain had over 60% of possesion, and that you needed more.

Like what get get shot? He was clear, and Ramos from behind took his leg.

Simply a PK a foul is a foul.

Not really, he lost the ball, it was clearly behind him. If he doesn't go down the trailing defenders were going to get the ball. Now if he had the ball in front of him, and had possession fine, but he didn't. It was a good call. He knows what he did, thats why he hardly made a fuss about it...

No its not. If any type of little contact was a foul then the game would be stopped every minute, and those more physically imposing teams would get no where. Just because he is grazed, which is what happened there, doesn't mean its a foul. He could have put his other foot down, he consciously choose not to, and decide to try and go for the PK instead of trying to recover possession of the ball. He KNEW he lost his opportunity when he messed up the first touch.
