I hate ESPN, or I should say, ESPN hates soccer. We're the stepchild a redheaded stepchild of a fringe sport. Starting 2035 I'll support hockey.

Is this about airing them in the US or in the UK? Seems like the site is a British one (or at least the article; "football", etc.), not an American one, so I don't know if everything shown on UK ESPN will also be featured on American ESPN

My money is on that it's UK broadcasts because they have the SPL and it mentions the NY tournatment which is being shown on Fox Soccer Channel here in the US.

I think what you mean is that ESPN hates american soccer. And that MLS is the redheaded step child that is not allowed out of the house and that anything below MLS in the USA is the children that live underneath the stairs.

I hope this doesn't happen. The teams from the smaller leagues need an opportunity to play in the CONCACAF Champion's League. I don't know why MLS would be using their bully position to fight for another automatic spot. Also, considering the success of the Puerto Rico Islanders and Montreal Impact two years back, Warzycha's statements are insane.

Well, its doubtful that Wizards would ever sell 40,000 tickets to a game - unless a major EPL (or La Liga) club were included. So don't slag on ESPN - ESPN also just added the Galaxy-Sounders game, too.

Alternatively, CONCACAF could award the spot to the best-finishing MLS team in the USOC.

Maybe the compromise could be that the Open Cup Champ can choose to turn down the invitation to Champion's League. Some lower division teams could be bankrupted if they choose to participate due to travel.

the san jose v tottenham game is at least on ESPN on the 17th according to ESPN tv listings. it is the "mls game of the week".

as for the rest in that article who knows. the schedule doesn't go out that far as of now. the NYFC is on FSC iirc but the others listed might end up on an ESPN network here in the US.
