Watching the LA Galaxy play yesterday I kind of feel LA can cope without Donovan. He should go for a move and I think LA will keep on trucking on without him plus they would have a good amount of cash from Donovan sell. Will see what happens in the next few weeks because I do think Galaxy does not need to have Donovan to be a top team in the MLS anymore and its time to move on. Its just a thought I might be right or might be wrong I do think that his sell won't affect the team much.
If Pinnear is sold, then Donovan would be a good replacement, plus Pinnear's deal is about $12 million euros so that would put a lot more money in Moyes' hands to spend on LD
I'm not sure Moyes will do it. I could see him rolling that money into 2-3 2mm younger players instead of Donovan. Or he might pay up for Landon. I hope he does. I'm just not holding my breath.
LD definitely deserves more than 10$ miliion. I think LD is a steal. He may be 28 but he can play any where. I want him to go to Arsenal, but Everton is fine too I have this dream of -------Van Persie--------- ---Donovan---Arshavin----
what else is going to say "Man I can't wait to ditch my current team and move to Europe"? He's a professional and a classy guy so of course he's going to say how excited he is to be home.
He'd also need some kind of receding hairline hair piece. I'm thinking Robert Downey Jr as Clint Dempsey. Of course, we'd need both of these guys to get their asses in prime shape.
Um, you're dumb and YOUR post is the dumbest I'VE seen in a long time. I'm not saying that Donovan = Arteta. I'm saying that Donovan could fill the gap as a wide midfielder. I'm also saying that Donovan is as good as Arteta, so in that sense, it's a win-win situation for Everton.
good god....arteta in the middle makes all the difference for everton. donovan cannot play in the middle. fail.
He used to play wide. He's very much a central player now. Has been for 2 years. Arteta is our best player by a mile. I don't think Donovan would be if he came here, he'd be a very good player for us, but not the best.
Not to us as soccerfans it isn't If I want read about someone doing the right thing for their marriage, I'll watch Oprah, thank you. The only emotional/maudlin stuff I'm interested in reading about here is along the lines of: Soccer player overcomes emotional heartbreak from (evil controlling bitch/death in the family/etc) to turn it around on the field and kick some serious ass. In the end he raises the (World Cup/Champions League/FIFA soccer player of the year) Trophy, and shouts in the camera "I love America!" For that, sure, I'll shed a tear or two
He can definitely play in the middle. He just have proven that he can be enough yet. Of course he hasn't had a lot of shots with his new found confidence over the past 2 or 3 years. Right now, it's foolish to think he could replace a quality player like Arteta - whom I think Spain needs for tomorrow's game, as he's their only mid who actually seems to want to go after goal in a somewhat direct manner. Of course, not being on the roster kind of makes that difficult.
Most of the games that Donovan played in the Winter, Arteta wasn't fit and didn't play. What does this mean? Everton is capable of winning if they have Donovan on the pitch instead of Arteta. It doesn't have to to be a position for position replacement; it's more about the balance of the team.
that's not true. arteta came back in donovan's third game against birmingham and actually subbed in for him. arteta did miss one game, 1/30 against wigan, as the match was a few days after the previous match against sunderland. so he only missed 3 games, total (donovan's first two and the wigan). during everton's crazy schedule (matches against liverpool, man utd, the tie against sporting, tottenham), arteta and donovan were both in in the squad and/or starting xi.
