Yes, but only for LAG fans as opposing teams shred us down the middle of the field for lack of defense. Move Stephens to CAM, insert Birchall to CDM, Beckham out wide right, and Dinho tucked in behind Budson.
I'd go with this... [LINEUP-4-3-3]Ronaldinho, Buddle, Donovan, Stephens, Birchall, Beckham, Dunivant, Berhalter/Leo, Gonzalez, Franklin/AJ, Ricketts[/LINEUP-4-3-3]
You'd think so. . . but why would Landon leave now, and not when he was at Everton? Maybe he'll leave at the end of the season, but not not before then. I think he wants to win one more cup.
While I agree with you, he probably would have gone to Everton pre-season if they met the transfer fee (which they might not have even had the funds for). I think for him, morally it wouldn't be right for him to leave mid-season, but saying that now means I'll probably be proven wrong.
Theres a little difference in Becks leaving seemingly every season he's come here when the Gals have invested so heavily in him, and then when hes here putting out so so performances. Donovan has established himself with the Galaxy and has given us many great performances and seasons he deserves to leave if he wants. No Raul though, wouldn't fit at all.
You guys think if Ronaldinho came in theyd throw you guys a third kit that was yellow with green or blue shorts? Kinda throwbackish but a nod to a brazil kit too? I'd like to see the stash come back
A couple of comments from catching up on this topic: 1. Ronaldinho isn't coming to MLS in July (or next season), ludicrous. MLS isn't signing any Designated Player level stars that require transfer fees, period. Naturally, non-transfer fee DP players are older and on the downhill of their career, but that's the way it is for now. Regardless, I can certainly see Ronnie playing in the MLS, but it won't be until his contract with AC Milan expires and he's free to move on a Bosman. And I can't see AC Mlian releasing him after his strong season. 2. On the other hand, I can certainly see Real Madrid releasing their icon Raul from his contract, thus making him available to LA Galaxy (or any other team) for free. 3. If LA Galaxy (or any team in MLS) are going to sign a Designated Player, it should be a forward or an offensive player. Overall, the finishing in this league is poor and even elite MLS players like Landon Donovan or Edson Buddle leave a lot to be desired in their finishing when compared to their counterparts in the top leagues of Europe. I mean, Robbie Findley is considered a top forward in this league and he is awful. Get someone that can finish. I really don't see the point in signing defensive DP players unless it's someone like Rafa Marquez. 5. If LA Galaxy or any other MLS team are going to spend Designated Player money on a foreign player, they really should be players like David Beckham and Cuauhtemoc Blanco - elite players and icons. Those players, apart from being few and far between, make the hardcore, casual and non-fan stand up and take notice. The one thing that struck me while watching these early World Cup games at a large venue like the Montalban Theatre in Hollywood is that Becks & Blanco got, by far, the largest reaction from the audiences (cheers & jeers) when they were on screen. Everyone has a strong opinion of the two. At this stage of the MLS' existence, that's the kind of fan reaction one needs for their Designated Players - as they say in my business (entertainment), someone that puts fannies in the seats. 5. With now multiple DP slots and if one can't get an above-referenced icon, I would like to see some of this Designated Player money spent on keeping the American stars in MLS. It's one thing to leave for the La Liga, EPL, Serie A or Bundisliga (which I'm all for) and another to leave for Scotland, Belgium, Holland or Scandanvia. I would like to see those American players stay in the MLS.
I agree with these two points. Getting butts in the seats will allow potential MLS fans to see the games and become fans of their team and the league. The other point is right on, I would love to see our top young American talent stay here in MLS. It sucks to see them leave for a lower or same level league and not get noticed.
Transfer season heating up and Raul courted elsewhere: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=805904&sec=transfers&cc=5901
Big names help bring big names...too bad MLS owners have no club about this. Carmonesi is free agent, Carmonesi signing could bring players like Trezeguet, Raul or Ronaldihno. AEG push your weight around!
We are playing so good without any major superstars, do we really need a Ronaldinho or Raul and risk our team chemistry get affected??
Milan To Sell Ronaldinho Link:http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/86/i...l-ronaldinho-klaas-jan-huntelaar-to-fund-move Any chance the Galaxy will be in the bidding mix??
Definately. The troubling part is that we really dont need him. Not a knock on his spectacular ability, but the team we fielded last night, is the best this league has to offer. Hands down. Side note: Not that I care what the rest of the league thinks of us, but how much of an F-U to every other team that we get the chance (when completely healthy, and if rumors are true) to field Landon, Beckham, and Ronaldinho???
even if Donavan jets across the pond our squad with the young talent is still the most dangerous team send Raul to a expansion club
Well besides the fact that article is typical Euro "journalism" which just throws a bunch of theories out there without any reasoning or quotes, if you believe the article, you'll notice that it doesn't say they're expecting to get a big fee from a 'dinho sale. It talks about Milan counting the money they'll save from salaries and other expenditures as money earned.
Yeah, that's not going to happen. Dinho only has 1 year left on his contract, so he's unlikely to move this summer. Plus, the numbers that goal.com cited are waaaaay off base. He was only bought for about 15 million Euros, and gets around 5 million a year. No way Milan saves 66 million by selling him and Huntelaar. There's also this: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=806237&sec=transfers&cc=5901&cc=5901 Doubt he'll be going this summer. Once he's a free agent next year though, he might be willing to explore MLS. He's certainly a one man show, and he'd tear apart most MLS defenses. Would be quite fun to watch.
I agree that next year when his contract is up is the year to watch out for. He will be interested then. He would be so fun to watch in MLS. Ronaldinho should have been on the Brazil squad for the World Cup, in my opinion. Dunga was an egotistical manager who hated Ronaldinho, and therefore left him off the squad. If they had a better coach who was smart enough not to leave him off the squad, they would still be in the world cup.
i dont think its that big of an F-U.....im sure NYRB will add two more DP's and seattle maybe even depending on Nkufo(maybe just one) and each team will try to bring in one, maybe a surprise team with two, so you never know what will happen this summer
com on...thats a little rash. Donovan gets most of LA's assists, you have to replace someone with that speed and delivery, even if Beckham coms back
