Wouldn't entirely surprise me. Most people this side of the atlantic were quite complimentary towards Bob during the World Cup and in last year's confederations cup.

I think it was a combination of: knowing nothing about him or his past + throw in how well he's done over the last four years = must be a pretty good coach.

I think this would be great, personally. We have an American coach in a top league in Europe, and it means that Sunil has to get off his ass and interview some candidates for the vacant job ASAP.

Wonder how Dempsey would feel about that.

It could be a win-win. I think Bradley has done a very good job for the USMNT. However, depending on who they can get, I think the US would really benefit from a new set of ideas.

On a number of levels, if you think about it...

    1) Good for Bob Bradley. Last game results notwithstanding, Bob had a pretty good 4 year run and deserves something better for his next job than, say, cleaning up the mess that is the 2010 New England Revolution, for example.

    2) Good for US coaches. This is the potential for opening a few doors overseas, and the more coaches who get overseas experience, the better off we'll be.

    3) Good for the USSF - in the sense that they'll be forced into a coaching decision sooner rather than later.

    4) Good for US Soccer fans - because we should be able to watch that new coach make his debut against Brazil on August 11th...

Even though i doubt it'll happen, I'd love for it too. I think it's the only way we'll get a new coach.

Not a necessary move by the USSF, imo. I never bought into this idea that two cycles are bad for managers.

It would be so fascinating to see how the European player would respond to this type of American coach and vice versa.

That said, I doubt it'll happen.

I am not a Bradley fan, but this is another step in the progression of the US game, our coaches need to get into the club scene in other countries. I would wish him the best of luck and if he does well, it could do nothing but help more coaches in the US. This would be HUGE! Plus he would not be national team coach anymore. But I would be in his court if it did happen to help with future US coaches.

Re: USA coach Bob Bradley emerges as a candidate for vacant manger's job at Fulham ...

The step forward has already happened. British papers are already linking an American Manager to a Premier League job. He doesn't have to get the position or even be interviewed for it. Progress has already been made. The next step would be to be SERIOUSLY considered for the job. Several steps later, one of our managers will actually get the job.

Becoming a manager in a top league in Europe is much harder than forging out a playing career. There are far fewer managers than players. Count the number of players on a squad and compare that to one manager per squad. It is literally at least 20 times harder to get a manager's position. Let's not all hold our breath.

I'm sure you've seen that the last three coaches have a combined record of 0-5-4 (W-L-D) in their second Cup, which the best performer being Lippi's 2 points, which included a draw against mighty New Zealand. Is this data misleading in some way we're missing?

We will have an interim/caretaker coach. The friendly is only a week and a month away.

    Look at the source.

The British press constantly invents stories - based on wishful thinking - shallow observation - and aspirational thinking.

The writer probably thought of Dempsey - then Bob - then figured hey if Bob's out of a job and they have an opening - then continued the line of thought - and he could bring with him the USMNT players like Landon and Michael - and everybody would be happy.

Sounds too good to be true - because it probably is.

    Fulham turn to Lewington
    Sky Sports
They have him as caretaker/manager role till they hire someone as a coach.

It's far more interesting to link to the actual source of the news, rather than to Goal.com's lame rehash: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ads-Fulham-shortlist-replace-Roy-Hodgson.html

The story, as you can see, is actually about Sven Goran Eriksson leading the Fulham shortlist, with Mark Hughes and Bradley rounding it out.

Sven got England to back to back quarters.Robson went from quarter finals to semifinal for England. Vogts led Germany to back to back quarters. Beckenbauer did one better on his second try and won the Cup.Schonn won the WC in his third attempt.

Bradley deserves to be considered before Sven Garbage Eriksson.

why does bradley deserve anything? managers of WC teams who did better than us have already been sacked or resigned.
