I Agree with what a lot of people are saying about the age of current team/ The talent we bring in after the world cup. I say now is the time to start the future though so we should buy a good amount this summer.

... about £20m less than if we'd asked the question BEFORE the Eng/Ger match I'd say :(

    Crying eh?

Casually ignoring his sick child who resides in Brazil.

See no issue in those quotes whatsoever.

That's crying? Did you bother reading the quotes? Deco isn't well liked, but idiotic down-putting is just as dis likable.

The way I read it was that JT was the initial 'attacking' defender, (i.e. the one that's meant to get to the bounce of the ball and clear it upfield with either a header or kick), and Upson was the fella who's meant to clear up at the back if he screws up. Well, I agree that Upson didn't do his job properly but JT TOTALLY messed up the flight of the ball. Now, to be fair, that might have been something to do with the Jabulani, (which the Germans have been using for the past season), but it was a total screw-up REGARDLESS of the reason.

Also, in the second goal, he gets dragged across although, to be fair, that was largely because we hadn't defended properly from the front and were 'overloaded' on that side with Upson, a CB, standing about 2 metres from the touchline. The end result being that we had 3 vs. 3 near the touchline and one simple lob took 3 men out of the game.

But I think the truth is that JT isn't getting any younger or any quicker. Alongside someone quick like Carvs he does well but Upson? Not so much!

agree pretty much, a reason also we should not be hasty about pushing Carv out now that he looks fit. Also not that it should make a huge difference but he had to play the otherside to his usual to accomodate Upson as well.

    ...........

Ashley is the key to making Carlo's system work, would be insane to let him go unless he begged and we were getting like 50 million

We seemed to do pretty well with Zhirkov. I'm against selling Ashley because I think he's the best left back in the world, but we definitely don't look much worse with Yuri.

That's the truth. He runs around as if he's wearing five pound ankle weights on each foot nowadays.

He was almost solely at fault for Germany's first goal. It was a goal kick, so he had plenty of time to gauge the flight of the ball. He completely missed it. I don't buy the Jabulani ball excuse. Then Terry got outmuscled and outrun to the ball by Klose, a guy that isn't really the quickest himself. Personally, I think age is catching up to him.

I dont know if you are mistaken here

but when JT missed the ball Klose outran and outmuscled Upson

but yes JT is slowing down as tends to occur with CDs as they age

your fix is ok with me, if I had Roman's money, he would not be for sale period, especially to Real Madrid and Jose
