This thread is an amazing coast to coast documentation of what will be remembered as a turning point in American soccer. I'm still trying to figure out what has caused such a dramatic increase in interested since the last WC. Sure, ESPN's coverage helps, but I think a lot of it has to do with a generation of people (like myself) who grew up with soccer and are now finally old enough to make a difference (ie, we have now finished college and/or grad school and have a little money to spend). The generation gap in soccer's popularity is becoming really evident. Anecdotally, of course, it seemed like 90% of the crowd in downtown Minneapolis for the US games was under 35.
