Osorio is going to have to have the GAME OF HIS LIFE if Mexico want to win this one. He will have his hands full with Tevez if Osorio starts. I hope for a good game, maybe ET? I doubt it though as I have Argentina winning the whole thing.

Since they're playing a little goalie, and we know how much Messi loves cutting in from right and aiming for far post...hmm...

Ya, you know Guishe is gonna start for sure. Hopefully Gio and others pick up his slack and score.

Don't troll mijita. You don't wanna be called hairy and ugly now do you?

And for the record it's actually Aguirre making the lineups not Guille. :D

1-0. Mexico will score a goal in the first half, like the fortune-teller from that Telemundo show "el gordo y la flaca", said.

I don't even know what trolling is, I'm not really savvy with all these Internet terms. I didn't have any idea I was doing it though.

Learning what not to do here every day :)

Basically, it means people in this place do not allow us to exchange some fun lovin' jabs. The other day I was making fun of the U.S. team as they were losing 2-0 against Slovenia (specially Landon Donovan, player that I despise), and I got a warning for trolling as well.

Funny though, as I thought trolling meant making fun of other members of this fine establishment, but I guess it also extends to the players and teams they root for as well.

I'm expecting this to be a brutal hack fest. Both teams have explosive offensive players and hard nosed defenders. Messi and Marquez probably won't talk to each other til halfway through the La Liga season.

    Have at it fellas.:D

Unfortunately they are just coming up against Mexico who I really wanted to advance to the Semis...I had Mexico winning their group but then of course Uruguay came along and spoiled my bracket.

Anyway yea I think they have the best chance and they, along with the Netherlands have been my off-kilter picks since everyone else seemed to be on Spain and Brasil.

We'll see what happens, maybe you guys can pull it off, it would be magical if you guys did but it would be a really tough road from that point on too. Tough bracket for sure.

Ok? So go bet I suppose. You can get 6/1 on Mexico at multiple books.

I don't want you to think I don't WANT Mexico to win. I think it'd be great, I just have Argentina winning the game because that is what my mind thinks, not my heart or my emotional opinion.

i haven't been as impressed with Argentina as others have been.

I insist that this is the same team that played the Conmebol qualifying and finished fourth.

If you lay back and let them play, something south american teams have learned not to do, they will win 90% of the time.

They've been pressed very little in this world cup, but when they have been they have suffered goal scoring opportunities against.

Their defenders are unbelievably slow and the young Mexican forwards should be able to exploit this

    keys to the game
    - Mexico's defense: they need to hold Argentina off so as to allow the forwards to get something going and maybe score first
    - Mexico's finishing: you won't get more than a few chances before Argentina starts putting theirs away. you need to capitalize early on, and then close down

I've got to disagree with this. While the foundation of this team has been set for some time, the supporting pieces have changed often. Where the biggest difference lies is in the understanding the players are starting to show with one another. The chemistry is markedly improved as has the game play. I've been the biggest critic in the Argentina forums with regards to Diego, Messi and many players and for the most part I am shocked at how much better we've looked.

Really that statement has been applicable to most teams so far in this World Cup.

Depending on which forwards play for Mexico it is certainly possible for our defense to be exploited but I don't buy in to the whole speed issue when it comes to defenders. A good defender can make up for speed with a superior reading of the game as well as positioning, communication.......while Demichelis scares the crap out of me sometimes Samuel doesn't. I think too much has been made of our defensive (lack of) speed.

And it's that chemistry you speak of that, to me at least, is the most marked improvement for this team. For a group that looked--at times--disorganized and distracted during qualifying, they seem to have turned a corner, and have developed a cohesion and unity that could prove both lethal and instrumental in carrying them to the later stages of this tournament. Have they looked as dangerous or as capable as they could? No, but they are starting to gel, and they do have the benefit of the best player in the world who, while doing wonderful things to create opportunities for his teammates and stretch the attack, still hasn't reached the full extent of what we all know he is capable of. In short, this is a team that seems to really be enjoying playing together. When you combine that with such lofty talent, it gives them a very high ceiling indeed. I like Mexico, and think they'll keep it close for awhile, but the Argentines relentless attack will prove too much as the game wears on.

Thing is, that 87% seemed to be made when he wasn't under pressure. It's the important passes that he only makes 1/3 of. Watch the greece game. No problem passing around in the back midfield, but once the attack starts heating up, Veron often mis-passes.

Argentina are an amazing attacking side, but there are real question marks at the back. Their pathetic group did nothing to challenge their vulnerabilities so for me they are still a bit of an unknown quantity.

I think Mexico actually match up very well against Argentina and just might give everyone the "shock" of the tournament.
